Spam calls are so old these days, everyone who has a landline always jokes about how no one but scammers calls them on it. I say this is a step in the right direction, but more of this stuff needs to happen.
these people are calling cell phones as well. even though I am on the do not call list.
I still get like 10 calls a day from robo calls.

And they can use your cell phone number. I have been getting calls lately asking if I just called them when I didn't and on the flipside I get robo calls from numbers similar to mine and if I call back, get a real person who didn't call me. It's annoying as heck!

ol yea it is. I should start doing what this one women did and take name of the company then file small claims against them for like 1k a pop for harassment.
I'll have to look that up, I wonder what the outcome was.

For those of us who get calls that are "dead air" or no one there, these are call screens to verify a human answered and these create lists worth more money as "verified" to be viable numbers.
Bastards.
I leave the fax machine connected to the land line. I get one ring then silence. It has become something to use only for outgoing calls. Turn off the fax machine, make my call, turn it back on. Sort of ridiculous.

But the entire media machine being in the hands of 6 mutinaltional corporations is fine.
I've done that in the past. It seemed to help. Then they came out with wireless phones with call-block capabilities and went that route.
How does a phone know who to block?
It's a smart phone.
You have to deal with the first call then add it to the blocked list. After that the call is automatically dropped when they call again.
I don't use cell phones. That's why I didn't know. Thanks.
Land lines also have call blocking. Check with your phone company for details in setting it up, if they provide the service. Most big phone companies do.
Down load the Should I Answer app. It gave me my life back. I have it set to pick up and hang up on known spammers. After 6 months of handling that junk I have noticed a huge decrease in calls. It is a great app.these people are calling cell phones as well. even though I am on the do not call list.
