Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein tells Americans to be 'skeptical' of anonymous sources

Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous ‘officials,' particularly when they do not identify the country — let alone the branch or agency of government — with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated. Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations," said Rosenstein in a late Thursday statement.

What does this mean? Is it a reference to the recent WaPo stories? Does it indicate that Rosenstein has tapped the Washington Post and knows who their source is? Did he unmask the identity of a collateral intercept? Most importantly, how can we be sure that Trump didn't order him to issue this warning as a way to obstruct the investigation? Somebody needs to investigate!!

I think it just means that he knows a lot of the stories are incorrect.

"...particularly when they do not identify the country..."

Um. Okay. Not really sure what to make of that one.

I call for an independent counsel to investigate the investigation!!!!!

Exactly what Comey testified in the Senate hearing recently. But that hasn't stopped the spammers from breathlessly starting a new thread about every WaPo unnamed source story that comes out.

So the twittersphere is interpreting Rosenstein's statement to mean that a story sourced to foreign intelligence officials is about to come out very soon.

I guess we'll see.

According to my anonymous sources, he's making a dig at Comey for releasing a memo that doesn't actually exist.

I like the way Rosenstein handle himself in the hearings.

He made it perfectly clear he thinks Comey was a snake in handling Clinton, Lynch etc.

This is a man that is fed up with the politicization of our intelligence agencies.

Glad he put forth the warning. As Sessions made it perfectly clear that they were pursuing the leakers and they will face jail time.

Comey when he revealed that he had a friend leak his memos, it didn't take long for the name to come forward as being Richman. And it didn't take long for Fox to have an independent study show that Richman has been leaking for quite some time to the NYT's. Imagine greater.

My guess they are hot on the trail for the leakers. And they are tracing who is making information available for it to be leaked.

I'm waiting for the "anonymous source" to turn out to be Russian. That would be like the cherry on top of the sundae.

Pee tape?

I kid. We're a million years past the point where we believed Trump might be embarrassed by that type of thing.

I'm at a loss, here:

"Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous ‘officials,' particularly when they do not identify the country — let alone the branch or agency of government — with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated."

This is just weird, and leads me to believe they are not sure what's going on, or are trying some prophylactic bandage.

Something doesn't make sense here.

It kinda' seems like he's expecting more Russian meddling, or something similar.

"We have standards and you should too" might be a public service announcement, nothing more.

We'll see.
