I don't watch this stuff, so I don't know...is this CNN guy their version of Hannity?

If so, I wonder what the public reaction would have been if Hannity called Obama a piece of ****? (I know...that's a rhetorical question. The answer is obvious.)

The Mainstream Media's hypocrisy is well documented, but their allowance of this kind of disrespect is astounding.

It's messed up to push a political agenda on the backs of dead victims, whether gun control or immigration control. I'm disgusted when Dems do it and I'm disgusted when Reps do it.

People, you think, are pieces of ****, when they say things you don't like? Or is it just anyone you don't like? Now that is a throwback way of political discourse and reminiscent of a brutal era.

I disagree with the democrats on gun control.
But I hate this whole "don't use the dead for politics" attitude

What should we do instead? Spend our time "mourning"? What's that done? I think tragedy calls for action. And even if I personally don't agree, I don' accuse people of "exploiting the dead"
We should want change and action when things happen. And it doesn't matter if it's "politicizing tragedies"... Politicizing tragedies does a hell of a lot more than a persons useless thoughts and prayers

Nooe. Not in this case. It is the prime example of the problem that requires the policy changes. Without it Merkel's invitation would have been fine. So it is important to remind the public at the moment of attack, whence it comes.

When people say Trump is a piece of crap - for me - its not just one thing he might say ..... its his entire history that renders him in that category.

Political positions should be built on data, logic and reason, not emotional pleas. Emotionally manipulating someone into a political position is intellectually abhorrent and damaging to society. It reduces our collective critical evaluation and objectivity.

Regarding prayers, I'm an atheist and reject all things supernatural.

I agree with you there. But just because you demand action in the wake of a tragedy, doesn't mean you're emotionally manipulating people.
I think after a terrorist attack it's perfectly logical and reasonable to reexamine a nations foreign policy and immigration laws. I don't see asking for such as emotional manipulation

The timing demonstrates such. It's striking while emotions are high.

What about the idea that one attack like that is too many and we wanna prevent the data from changing? I guess it would be playing at peoples emotions. But I couldn't imagine getting millions of Americans to follow my opinion without doing a little bit of emotional manipulation

I've no such need. Emotional pleas in lieu of data, logic and reason, only degrade our collective objectivity. It's intellectually pathetic. Let's not glorify scandalous behavior just because it might work, that's unethical.

There's a difference between speaking with passion and emotional manipulation. If I move someone with my speech, that's not the same as using a tragic event in place of my own ability to stir passion.
