A Russian oligarch once close to Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, has offered to testify to congressional panels investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election, but lawmakers are rejecting his conditions, the New York Times reported on Friday, citing congressional officials.

Interesting how many "innocent" people are requesting immunity.

Putin must be really enjoying this. In his wildest dreams he can hardly have dreamt that his nonlinear and information war on us would be so successful. We are shredding ourselves for silly domestic wrangle with partisan snobbism causing massive damage to the country around the globe.

Obviously, these people are idiots.

Why not just use the Fifth Amendment as the Democrats do.

He finds it unsettling, if interviews with Russia experts are anything to go by. The rancor between left and right in this country was certainly amusing at first, but the Russophobia (is that the right word?) that resulted from his interference in our election spiraled out of control, and he eventually reigned in the press from reporting on it (this is according to those same Russia experts. I haven't been keeping track of Russian newspapers and can neither confirm nor deny that claim).

However, there is no denying that he is really enjoying he hell out of how Trump has driven a wedge between the United States and the rest of NATO, an organization tasked with checking Russian expansion. With a divided and weakened NATO, expect many more Crimeas in the future.

According to your link, Manafort had business ties to the guy ten years ago and nothing recently. Not sure how this impacts Trump in any way. Nice try though.

Yup. But ya gotta give him credit. For what he wanted to do he certainly had the players, all of them, sussed precisely.

Which is most likely why they wont grant him immunity. They can hide behind that and use it to imply that Trump is guilty of something without having to prove anything.

Pity the large Eu members are not willing to give up their free riding. Because there is no way the USA can continue doing the lifting alone.

If you have ever heard of Scooter Libby, you would be a fool to not claim your Fifth Amendment rights.

How many "innocent" people at the IRS, the DNC and the Clinton camp asked for immunity?

How many "innocent" people at the IRS, the DNC and the Clinton camp asked for immunity?

And what was your response when they did, hmm?

Did you defend them? I bet you did, hmmm?

Yes, I did. Pleading the 5th and seeking immunity is something any decent lawyer would recommend whenever possible. I don't fault people for doing it.

You guys, on the other hand, were very clear that you see it as a sign of guilt, and I'm absolutely certain you'll apply the same standard now as you did then.

So, that means you'll lead the charge to defend General Flynn?

I defend his choice to seek immunity and/or plead the 5th in whatever legal defense he chooses to make. The 5th in particular, it's a constitutional right for a freaking good reason. Pleading the 5th is absolutely not evidence of guilt, just like I said with Clinton officials. If investigators want to prove his guilt, they'll have to gather the evidence to do so.

And in the interest of being consistent, I'm sure you're already assuming Flynn is guilty due to his choices. You wouldn't have a double standard, right? Weird how you're so evasive on that line of discussion...

Does his immunity request signal his guilt?

Is Flynn guilty? If he's asking for immunity, he believes he guilty of something. You can't exactly be granted immunity for doing nothing wrong. Right?

I bet you all are wishing you hadn't defended all those folks quite so hard, huh? :lamo

I think seeking immunity is not evidence of guilt.

You're still dodging the question, I am not surprised. I can only conclude you believe Flynn is guilty, your statements show this. However, you're unwilling to actually say it, because he's one of your Golden Savior's crew. Have a nice day :)
