The National Security Agency under former President Barack Obama routinely violated American privacy protections while scouring through overseas intercepts and failed to disclose the extent of the problems until the final days before Donald Trump was elected president last fall, according to once top-secret documents that chronicle some of the most serious constitutional abuses to date by the U.S. intelligence community.

The normally supportive court censured administration officials, saying the failure to disclose the extent of the violations earlier amounted to an “institutional lack of candor” and that the improper searches constituted a “very serious Fourth Amendment issue,” according to a recently unsealed court document dated April 26, 2017.

If its ok for obama to abuse the national security agencies to spy on his political opponents so can trump now that the spies are under his command.

Obama was apparently surveilling everybody. I suspect No. 1 on that list last fall was Donald Trump.

And if this Seth Rich case gains steam......

The DNC looks really scared and desperate right now to keep that quiet. They aren't the least bit interested in finding out what happened to the guy.

Does anyone really doubt that Obama was spying on Trump? He would have spied on whomever got the nomination.

There has been rampant domestic spying likely since WW1. On both sides. WAKE UP, BOTH SIDES. Quit being blinded by partisanship, the intelligence communitys are the enemy of the people, no matter who is in office.

Bush set down the ground work for a domestic spy program with the enthusiastic support of many Democrats. Obama comes along and expands the program to the next level with the support of Republicans.
All sold as the price we pay for the illusion safety.

Still sore that Trumps people could not talk to soviet agents about fixing the election without being monitored I see. I suppose we should just leave those spies alone to do their work to bring this country down?

I'm glad that the ACLU is concerned, as they should be. An interesting quandary for a Constitutional Lawyer and a Constitutional Professor to find themselves in. Or is Obama not really one of those?

This is a pretty serious an allegation here. If the government knows all, its in the position to pull everyone's strings to get what they want. Perhaps that's what we are witnessing unfolding now?

Because almost all of the democrats and republicans are not actually democrats or republicans.

They're simply well paid minions who do exactly what they are told, and only advance "values", or "ideals" when those ideas are either good for their paymasters, or only a facade to cover for something bad. Often something the opposite of whatever the claimed values are.

They have made a career out of misleading people into voting against their best interests.

I struggle to find any I can even partially support.
