Students demand University of Chicago to fund race-specific housing

Yeah, but we shouldn't go all old-man-fist-shake about DURN KIDS THESE DAYS at every wackjob-ass thing we come across on the internet. The internet gives us a false impression of the size of a lot of issues, and being a relatively new phenomenon this gives us a false impression of a change in society.

There were always dumbass college kids asking for weird things, there were always flat-earthers, there were always people who thought the government was listening to their thoughts, there were always literal nazis living in the United States. There aren't more of these people now than there were 20 years ago. They just got a bigger megaphone.

I pretty much agree with this. Media, social media especially, can make things bigger than they really are. And we indeed do need to be cautious of that. On the flip side, however, this isn't the first, or even second, story of this type we have heard in the last year, or so. Some of that may be encouraged by social media, sure.
 
People fought hard to make segregation by race a thing of the past. Now these idiots want to bring it back? What kind of nonsense is this. Someone needs to slap these special children and teach them some history.
 
This is nothing compared to what is currently happening are Evergreen College.
 
Segregation does not diminish racism...it increases it.

Again, stop looking at people as different 'races' and just as people and racism will eventually end.

Those students weren't even trying to listen. They were making demands and when those demands weren't met they started hollering and stamping their feet like spoiled children. Time to let reality slap em in the face. Suspend each and every one of them for 1 week. After that week is up let them know that this behavior is unacceptable. If they want a REASONABLE discussion then fine, have one. Encourage it even. But the moment they start stamping their feet like spoiled brats suspend them. Maybe this will force them to start actually using critical thinking skills that they should have been taught while growing up by their parents and teachers in K-12.
 
Trying to establish a form of systemic segregation should be ILLEGAL to even attempt. Try to start your only "white" only or "black" only club should be punishable.
