Trump kills Clean Power Plan, orders agencies to ignore climate change

You're correct, Sir. I don't know what they are going to do with it once it's out of the ground. Natural gas is cheaper.

But it's so much ****ing fun blowin' off them there pristine mountain tops, ya know.

Utah is losing business because of the bad air quality. :(

Seems like Trump is more geared towards undoing Obamas work than he is about creating his own legacy. I mean seeing the US president holding up a coal sign was laughable, I thought I had stepped into a time machine.
He's pandering to his base nothing more, this won't kickstart the coal industry or create more jobs. Why not roll out something positive with bipartisan support like a infrastructure bill?

Trump has shown so far that he has no idea how to govern. He is not a thinker, he does not read to inform himself, he only knows how to benefit business. That is not how our government works. He needs to have people around him that know how government works and that is not happening. It's a really bad situation for the country.

He's a top hat and a long coat away from being a Victorian British prime minister. Gun boat diplomacy and coal, man is pushing coal likes its 1817

And solar is slowly killing them all.

But apparently it makes Trump look like he actually did something for the miners he promised the moon.

Yeah because we need more low tech manual labor jobs that are dangerous as hell and pollute the environment and shorten the worker's lives.

And solar is slowly killing them all.

Total US power derived from solar generation is in the single digits and its going to stay that way

Not because of Trump or this recent and great news, but because Solar is expensive, not green and not feasible on any substantial scale

Germany's idiotic decision to dive into renewables was a cautionary tale that too many are willing to ignore
At least we have a stop gap to going down that road

Ahhh! The good old days!

I miss the days when our rivers would catch on fire.

#MAGA!!!!!

Dishonest hyperbole...

Wrong. Keep whistling past the graveyard, coal is last generation's fuel.

I for one will be really happy to get the 1980s skyline back.

LA Gangster rap videos just weren't the same when the smog went away...

Dishonest hyperbole...
Sorry but no. This is how it was back in the days of coal and unregulated auto emissions...

It's disconcerting that the President is going through with his thoughts on global warming... he's dismantling the Chinese hoax.

I want investigations. Can we find out how many of our scientists are Chinese?

Oh nooo!

Now that these never-really-implemented restrictions are gone, it'll be like living in 2016 all over again!

In a way, this is really smart for President Trump. The more people who get, for example, lead poisoning, the bigger his base grows.

It absolutely is dishonest hyperbole. Bull **** scare tactics is all you people have now.

Do you know how much of our power currently is derived from coal fired plants ?

Funny that....Cities like Flint have been run by Democrhavefor decades.

Funny that....Cities like Flint have been run by Democrhavefor decades.

An argument that would only make sense if they were exclusively subjected to democratic leadership.

What a simplistic sad world you live in.

I prefer to live in a country where we can breath clean air, drink clean water, and we can step outside without fear of health problems.

Maybe you'd prefer to live in China where it's all about making a buck and **** the environment and people?

Anybody else remember what it was like before the Clean Water Act? Lake Erie was all but dead and some rivers were so polluted you could tell what color paper they were making that day or some caught on fire.

Stop with the liberal hyperbole. I'm not saying have 0 regulations and have cities as bad as China, and Trump didn't say that either. However, we need to be using our natural resources.

About 71 percent of the Earth's surface is water-covered, and the oceans hold about 96.5 percent of all Earth's water!

Flowing water creates energy that can be captured and turned into electricity. This is called hydroelectric power or hydropower. The most common type of hydroelectric power plant uses a dam on a river to store water in a reservoir!

energy_consumption_by_source_2014-eia.jpg

Less than a quarter of our electricity comes from water, yet it could be all of our energy (clean & once the infrastructure its the cheapest form of energy).

Advantages to hydroelectric power:
•Fuel is not burned so there is minimal pollution
•Water to run the power plant is provided free by nature
•Hydropower plays a major role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions
•Relatively low operations and maintenance costs
•The technology is reliable and proven over time
•It's renewable - rainfall renews the water in the reservoir, so the fuel is almost always there

Disadvantages to power plants that use coal, oil, and gas fuel:
•They use up valuable and limited natural resources
•They can produce a lot of pollution
•Companies have to dig up the Earth or drill wells to get the coal, oil, and gas
•For nuclear power plants there are waste-disposal problems

Hydroelectric power is not perfect, though, and does have some disadvantages:
•High investment costs
•Hydrology dependent (precipitation)
•In some cases, inundation of land and wildlife habitat
•In some cases, loss or modification of fish habitat
•Fish entrainment or passage restriction
•In some cases, changes in reservoir and stream water quality
•In some cases, displacement of local populations

Really. So what I see is a lot of people arguing that he is rolling back EPA regs to before the EPA was established? Could we keep it in a truthful narrative? He is rolling back the last batch of clean air and clean water regs the EPA rolled out.

The current regulations are as of 2013, I believe.

While I won't pretend that Trump is going to bring about the downfall of clean water and clean air, I would say Trump is making a gamble. Having more employed coal miners is a nice thing but if climate change turns out to be more than a conspiracy from China, then history will not remember Trump fondly. That said, this is political showmanship and has little to do with "using our natural resources". Natural gas is just too cheap and marketable and solar is fixing to get there as well. Actions like these are little different than trying to bring back whale oil to fill our lamps.

I went through eight years of hyperbole about every action Obama took, now you can put on your big boy pants and deal with Trump getting the same treatment.
