Look, Republicans, I get it. You're the dog that caught the car. But seriously, just stop. Move on to your big tax reform bill that shifts the entire country's tax burden to the poor and the middle class, and admit that crafting complex policies just isn't your thing.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) on Thursday released a new score for a revised plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare that Republican leaders are struggling to pass in the House.

The CBO found that this version of the healthcare plan contains significantly less deficit reduction than the original but would lead to essentially the same levels of coverage losses and premium increases. The legislation would reduce the deficit by $150 billion over 10 years, down from $337 billion in the original legislation, the report said. The plan would still result in 24 million more people being uninsured in 2026, a finding that has been a rallying cry for Democrats. Premiums would still initially rise by 15 percent to 20 percent before eventually becoming 10 percent lower, the CBO said.

The CBO's score, however, does not reflect last-minute changes that could be made to win over conservatives, including repeal of ObamaCare's minimum coverage requirements. That change would be significant, but it is possible House Republicans could bring up the vote without that revised score.

And just what are those "minimum coverage requirement" the article is referring to? Those are the ten health benefits I posted a few times since it was announced last night they would be cut in order to approve the House Freedom Caucus. The HFC still ended up turning down the deal, I can only assume because there was no provision to use the poor for military target practice.

  • Outpatient care—the kind you get without being admitted to a hospital
  • Trips to the emergency room
  • Treatment in the hospital for inpatient care
  • Care before and after your baby is born
  • Mental health and substance use disorder services: This includes behavioral health treatment, counseling, and psychotherapy
  • Your prescription drugs
  • Services and devices to help you recover if you are injured, or have a disability or chronic condition. This includes physical and occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, psychiatric rehabilitation, and more.
  • Your lab tests
  • Preventive services including counseling, screenings, and vaccines to keep you healthy and care for managing a chronic disease.
  • Pediatric services: This includes dental care and vision care for kids

Considering all the time the Reps had to come up with an Obamacare replacement - they sure seem pathetically inept at delivering a remotely decent replacement.

Were I them, I would just put out a plan that gives basic healthcare to anyone who needs it (full healthcare to any child/disabled person/veteran who needs it).

Plus, I would let insurance companies charge whatever they wish and turn down anyone they wish...true free market economics. This guaranteed coverage nonsense is ridiculous. Insurance companies cannot work if people can get cancer insurance once they already have cancer...it's insane.
What's next? I can buy insurance for my car five minutes after I totalled it and it was my fault? Life does not work like that.

And I would give added tax incentives to charitable hospitals/clinics.

No doubt most/all of you will disagree with me...which means it has to be good. ;)

This semi-Obamacare the Reps are proposing is pathetic, imo - it is the worst of both worlds. And Obamacare is DEFINITELY not the answer either - it is a bloated whale.

Hello Reps...this is 2017...every American should have access to BASIC (not full) healthcare without costing them a dime (assuming they pay no taxes). Every homeless person should be able to stumble into any emergency room and get basic healthcare (like set a broken leg or cheap antibiotics for an infection) free of charge.
But if they need more expensive help - like a triple bypass - they are on their own (they will have to get insurance or go to a charity hospital/clinic).

Or we could just do variations of single payer like every other industrialized Western country, but that's completely out of the question for...reasons.

Just repeal.

Any replacement should just be getting government out of the way of the free market.

republicans should do what Obama would/could not: eliminate age requirement to be eligible for medicare

overnight, the republican party would be seen as the champion of the people. this would do for the GOP what social security did for the democratic party

What are the logistical barriers to this?

That would put health insurance companies out of business..... You know, those guys who pay millions to keep their Congresscritters kissing their asses.

2018 election Democrats hope you're correct .

The dog that caught the car analogy is perfect. :)

Not necessarily. Might just be another money-making opportunity.

I worked in health care for 44 years. Billed Medicare and insurance. The biggest mistake America made was decades ago when we privatized our health care system.

The bulk of the Hospitals are private. Nursing Homes private. Home Health Agencies are private. It is hard to find a City or County owned and operated Hospital or Nursing Home. The county home health agencies are GONE. We have had decades of private enterprise in health care. What happened? Rampant Fraud, Costs for health care premiums escalating faster then the cost of living even though their labor costs are a BIG chunk of their budget. There is no way "competition" and "free market" works. We have decades of data to prove it. When you hear those words, it is the health care lobby and donations to the election campaigns talking. The Hospital Associations, the AMA, and every other profession and supplier in health care. Sounds great but is simple false. Show me some DATA that says otherwise.

In the same way that the Democrats should embrace free market capitalism and the rights of the unborn to ingratiate themselves to the conservatives.
