[FONT=&quot][FONT=&quot]Hundreds of thousands of service workers will strike on May 1, seizing on the wave of opposition among labor organizations to President Trump, BuzzFeed News reported Saturday.
May 1, International Workers' Day, is traditionally a magnet for labor demonstrations. More than 300,000 food chain employees and 40,000 service workers are expected to participate in the massive strike.
Among the most notable groups participating in the protest are the Service Employees International Union United Service Workers West, led by David Huerta, who said that tens of thousands of his chapter’s members will walk off the job

“We understand that there’s risk involved in that, but we’re willing to take that risk in order to be able to move forward in this moment, while the most marginalized are in the crosshairs of this administration,” Huerta told BuzzFeed.
A statement announcing the strike called it a rejection of Trump’s hardline immigration policies and “agenda of hate and greed.”

If you're against a hardline immigration policy then you're against enforcing the law.

Escalate immigration raids that are shattering families

I wonder if anyone in prison has a family. Hmmm...

Does anyone think there is perhaps mothers and fathers in prison right now? Nah...that never happens.

It would be just awful if crime broke up families.

I'm sure the illegals will be happy at a shot at a good paying job.

That's one benefit of illegal aliens - they show up for work without a chip on their shoulder or an injustice to fight. I'm suppose to take it to the bank that unions are fighting Trump for wanting to make the economy stronger. How dare he!

What has Obama done for the Teamsters lately other than allow Mexican drivers to drive in America so they don't have to hire "no stinking Teamsters".

If you are a female immigrant who works in the service industry and are thinking about participating in another strike, I hope you have a very understanding boss. ;)

The problem with these strikes is they go largely unnoticed and are little more than a token gesture.

If these people really want to get attention they're going to have to step up and do something that actually has an impact. A nationwide fast food workers strike, for example. Of course the obvious problem with that is the fast food industry is largely un-unionized.

Ban Muslims because of their faith

:lamo Fun fact: That didn't happen. Banning an entire country is not banning just Muslims. Shocking I know.

Exclude trans people from public life

And another thing that didn't happen. Undoing an EO by Obama dealing with bathroom access does not exclude trans people from public life, but just doesn't force a bathroom issue on all states and people.

I foresee a bunch of new job openings.

I always take off May Day as a personal day. It's to show respect for those people who were killed in the Haymarket Massacre on May 4th, 1886, in Chicago. I owe them for my 40hr. weeks and weekends off. Not to mention getting children off of the factory floors and into school where they belong.

Yet they seem to draw thousands of media people. I bet if all the media people were pulled from the pictures, there would only be a handful of actual protesters left.

Typical douchebag leftist rhetoric. Following the existing US law is an "agenda of hate and greed.”

Man...those democrats are real pieces of ****, arent they?

Meanwhile...didnt Trump win a significant amount of labor support prior to the election? asnt he had positive supportive meetings with unions post election? Oh...wait...these guys are the minimum wage crowds...the service industry...the "we demand 15$ an hour for a job a trained monkey can do" workforce. Well...that explains it. I guess EVERYONE has to get their poutrage on. Maybe the gay rights groups can find a way to make this protest be about transgendered rights somehow. Make it a real party.

Didnt a fair number of workers lose their jobs at the last few "day without a ___________" protests?

Fast food work is fundamentally incompatible with unionism.

I haven't worked for nearly a year so, unless I gain employment before then I won't be on strike come May 1

I will prolly be puffing a nice stogie & sipping some Grand Marnier on May 1

International Workers' Day, also known as Labour Day in some countries, is a celebration of labourers and the working classes that is promoted by the international labour movement, socialists, communists or anarchists and occurs every year on May Day (1 May),

Scurrryyyy

LOL! More people will get fired, and others will get their jobs. And nobody will even notice. More and more justification for automation to take those jobs.
One day strikes are legally protected. One-Day Strikes: A Word to the Wise | Labor Notes

If it's a Unfair Labor Practice strike, in response to an unfair labor practice incident. Not this "just because" strike.

I don't even agree with that part of it.

They cannot legally be disciplined for failing to give advance notice or failing to call in early the day of the strike (an exception is the health care industry, where 10 days’ advance notice is required). Nor can the employer count the days as absences under an attendance-control program.

That's just bull****.

We've had the Day Without Immigrants, Day Without a Woman and now an International Workers Strike? Sounds to me like people just don't want to work.

I'm sure it will be just as effective, and just as noticed by everyone else, as the first two.
