They came for the American dream. Now they’re fleeing to Canada.[W:83]

Re: They came for the American dream. Now they’re fleeing to Canada.

The only way we'll see ur murder rate skyrocket is if those Mexicans bring the Second Amendment with them.

You know, that would make ****ing sense if it was legal gun owners using guns for murder, but it's not, by a huge stretch, your statement shows a wilful ignorance born and bred of partisan hackery at it's worst.

Re: They came for the American dream. Now they’re fleeing to Canada.

The biggest problem with gun free Chicago is the it's surrounded by gun nut Chicago.

And yet, this is demonstrably false. Nice try.

Re: They came for the American dream. Now they’re fleeing to Canada.

Are American citizens leaving and entering Canada illegally? If not, then No.
Canada should send the bill to the illegals home country.

I did not imagine how well this thread would demonstrate the bigotry and hatred some americans have for any they can get away with not calling americans. The article states;
Refugees who do not yet have official standing to live in the United States believe their luck has run out and hope Canada will offer them the safety they seek.
So these are people allowed in to your country to seek residency but fear the present governments attitude of hate that is been bred towards them and witnessed in the callous disregard of people like you are demonstrating in just assuming they are not americans.

Canada should be sending the bill to america for first inviting these refugees to america and then making such hostile claims about them that they feel forced to flee your country for safety in another.

Funny.
He can also punch out a Conservative Party senator...

Re: They came for the American dream. Now they’re fleeing to Canada.

No, Canada should not. Instead, those who believe they are morally superior to us can step up, open a center in Somalia, and fly all to New Zealand that want to come before they get thoughts of illegally entering our country. Have a morally superior day, and send postcards of all those you so happily take in.

I need show no moral superiority when dealing with these kind of comments. It is more a case of laughing at the complete lack of morality you are displaying.

Re: They came for the American dream. Now they’re fleeing to Canada.

I didn't attack New Zealand. I asked a question. Do you not know the difference? Or are you just being dishonest?

No, you just made a worthless statement in an attempt to deflect from your own country. It is a poor debate tactic worthy of a five year old caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

NIMBY, I would suggest you get the log out of your eye before complaining about a sliver. Chill out.

It was a legitimate question in line with the comments from the OP.

In case you're interested:

https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/options/visit/explore-visitor-visa-options

The answer to the question, from what I read of New Zealand's immigration process is that the "migrants" mentioned in the OP would not be welcome in New Zealand, as they would not meet their requirements.

You can review the information yourself and draw your own conclusion.

How incredibly ignorant or a very dishonest attempt to confuse.

You link to visa application for people wishing to take up residence in nz. A completely different scene from that of what we do with refugees fleeing persecution from their own country.
https://www.immigration.govt.nz/about-us/what-we-do/our-strategies-and-projects/supporting-refugees-and-asylum-seekers/refugee-and-protection-unit/new-zealand-refugee-quota-programme

It was not a legitimate question obviously so because you then attempt a very dishonest try at giving the incorrect information.

Re: They came for the American dream. Now they’re fleeing to Canada.

I don't think you know the difference between attacking and not attacking anymore, with your blind defense of trump/Bannon .

blah blah blah Bannon's fault blah!

Get a new talking point for gods sake.

what bigotry in my response? Is it that I don't support those who are in the US illegally? Why do you?

Your own quotes says the people " who do not yet have official standing to live in the United States", So they are not here legally.
"believe their luck has run out..." I don't accept the concept that the US should be held responsible for someone who "believes their luck has run out.

How does someone entering the US illegally mean the US is "allowing" them in? Those who have been allowed in through legal means should have nothing to fear. Unless they are hiding something.:lamo

Re: They came for the American dream. Now they’re fleeing to Canada.

From the OP:
"Facing a variety of national problems – crime, drugs, corruption, a troubled economy – Mexicans overwhelmingly are dissatisfied with the direction of their country.....Most believe life is better in the United States."

maybe they should STAY in Mexico & attempt to make it a better place instead of coming to other nations ILLEGALLY ............

Most Mexicans See Better Life in U.S. ? One-In-Three Would Migrate | Pew Research Center

How ironic that while mexican flee their own country seeking a secure and safe life in america. Refugees granted asylum in america are fleeing america to go to canada seeking a secure and safe life.

So the question is should canada make america pay for a wall?

I think most did not come for "the American dream" but came for the "dream of being safe". And for a while the US promised that to these people, when Trump came into power that feeling must have taken a hit so now they are seeking that "dream of being safe" in a country that they hope is more welcoming towards their presence.

Nothing in the article about illegals. Just your bigotry in assuming so.

Your own quotes says the people " who do not yet have official standing to live in the United States", So they are not here legally.
Again your bigotry shows through. It actually means that having been invited to america they are now going through the process of becoming legal. That does not make them illegal .

Then you are obviously in denial over just what a complete arsehole your president and his minions are.

Not true at all. Why are you lying? The link can provide information on people seeking to not just visit, but also live in New Zealand.

Further, you've provided a link to a policy regarding Syrian refugees. What does that have to do with the blanket claims you've made involving people from all over the world who are trying to get into the United States.

750 Syrians?

I did a search and this was at the top of the list.

New Zealand introduces tough measures for asylum seekers | Workpermit.com

Further, I found a more current policy approach.

Your attacks and disingenuous approach, IMO, relegates your message and your credibility to the dumpster.

Is that not part of the american dream. To be able to work and live and watch your children achieve even better than you in a safe and secure country.

What is the american dream to you if it does not include this?

No denying we have a right wing government more interested in the problems of a few wealthy than any concern for the rest.

Still this all adds up to your rather childish attempt to deflect attention to the fact that your country is stealing from a cookie jar by trying to point out little brother also did it. Kind of pathetic but an argument on the level of a five year old is about what i expected from you.

Re: They came for the American dream. Now they’re fleeing to Canada.

Why is it that all the 3rd worlders fed up with the poverty & violence in the countries that
their forefathers forged, insist on being saved from their homeland their place of birth by the
lands that were forged by Northern Europeans in particular the English.

America is a free and prosperous nation PRECISELY because of its English heritage. The common law,
self-government, rule of law and individual rights are all English political traditions. Did anyone ever
wonder why Canada & the USA are the places where all the 3rd world inhabitants gravitate to, & the rest
of the America's mostly Spanish America is composed of 50 or so so-called nations with most of their
citizens dreaming of migrating to Enlish America.

Let's remember no person has the right to immigrate here, Trump and the administration were voted in
to remedy the excesses of previous administration actually every one since 1965. There is nothing immoral
about stopping the floodgates of both illegal & legal immigration.

What bad treatment have the ones that were invited to the US are experiencing? Has ICE or FBI rounded them up? Look, one cannot help those who are paranoid. If they feel uncomfortable , they are free to leave.

Your post remind me a lot of people that use bigotry as a way to bolster their weak position.

Give me an example where a person who was invited into the US and is not being pressured by the govt to leave that is not based on their opinion.

Your true color shows, You hate Trump. Bet you also support open borders so people are free to come and go as they please.
(by the way I did not vote for him)...

Are you that ignorant of the rhetoric and nasty speeches of trump. These people came from countries where there persecution began with the same nonsense and bull**** that spews from your idiot president who tries to create hatred for minorities so as look as if he is doing something good.
The refugees cannot be blamed for reacting to the hate spewing forth against them. Your ilk on the other hand can be blamed for your flag waving nonsense that ignores the effects your idiot president creates.

So you can't provide an example (lined evidence) that people who have been invited (refugees) to the US are being forced out.
Where is your hatred towards America when President Obama banned all Iraqi immigrants for 6 months.
How about when President Clinton when almost 2 million were kicked out of the US.

Or is your rant all about your dislike of Trump?

Donald Trump refugee policy - Critics say Barack Obama kicked out more migrants | World | News | Express.co.uk
"Mr Obama’s administration stopped processing all applications from Iraqi migrants over a six-month time period.*
It has also emerged Democrat favourite and husband of Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, took a tough stance against immigration, deporting the highest number on record in 2000 when 1,864,343 aliens were booted out, according to the US Center for Immigration studies.*'

Key facts about refugees to the U.S. | Pew Research Center
"An executive order signed Jan. 27 by President Donald Trump suspends refugee admissions for 120 days while security procedures are reviewed, though the resettlement of persecuted religious minorities may continue during this time on a case-by-case basis. Under the plan, the maximum number of refugees allowed into the U.S. in fiscal 2017 will likely decline from 110,000 to 50,000. Separately, admission of Syrian refugees will be suspended pending a revision of security screening measures."

I am well aware of President Trump's stance regarding refugees and immigrants. Seems you are either unaware or ignoring what President Obama or President Clinton did regarding refugees and immigrants.

Re: They came for the American dream. Now they’re fleeing to Canada.

I don't think so.

No, you really don't, but that's obvious from your laughable position on this matter. The problem isn't that there are legal guns available outside of Chicago, if that were the REAL problem, wouldn't places outside Chicago be more violent? That would make sense no?

"The problem is all these guns in America, that's why a nice, smart city like Chicago, with very strong control laws has such a high rate of gun crime!!"

Seriously that's your argument.

Are you being deliberately disingenuous? These people are leaving because they already understand where the hate speeches lead to. They are not being forced out, they are being driven by the fear of your government throwing them out.

Old arguments of no importance and not an excuse for the present rulers driving people out.

Or is your rant all about your dislike of Trump?
You are not really good at figuring the obvious out, that you have made quite clear.

Of course this is a thread pointing out that you have a really stupid man for a president.
Yes, like many threads here it is another thread pointing out that not only is stupidity considered a right in america but that many americans just hired one to run the country to prove the point.
