An IBEW signatory contractor filed suit against the Trump organization for skipping out on $2 million of work done on the luxury Washington D.C. hotel in the Old Post Office Building.

And a mechanics lien has been filed against the Trump organization for that 2 million. that's the fifth contractor who is suing Trump for stiffing them on this one property alone. And Trump has many, many properties. Is this what Trump meant by "Art of the Deal"?

Another Contractor Stiffed by Trump

NOTE: Once a thief, always a thief.

This is why, I believe, he refuses to disclose his tax info. He is too proud to let people know he's got no cash.

We all know Trump does not care one fig for the working class, his LONG history of stiffing contractors is public knowledge.

That is just an alternative fact, but tell us something new...

Did they do crap work? Is there a dispute on the quality & delivery time?

I am asking because it does matter.

Trump isn't running trump INC anymore he has turned that over to his kids.
they are also suing trump INC not trump.

interesting you left that out. why?

Well, the article does say this:

“Part of how he did business as a philosophy was to negotiate the best price he could. And then when it came time to pay the bills,” O’Donnell said, Trump would say that “‘I’m going to pay you but I’m going to pay you 75 percent of what we agreed to.’”

It was known as the “Trump discount,” according to the Economist Magazine and it led to more than 3,500 lawsuits against Trump for nonpayment.

Now, either Trump is the unluckiest and least competent contract negotiator, or he has found it profitable to always stiff the people he hires, betting that they will take the reduced pay rather than put it off for the years lawsuits and appeals can take (meanwhile paying their own lawyers).

Which Trump ran when the relevant things happened. From the source, which as usual you didn't bother to read:

The Trump Organization won the right to redevelop the former federal office building with the landmark clock tower into the Trump International Hotel Washington, D.C. in 2014. Work on the luxury hotel took two years and cost upwards of $200 million according to the Trump organization. Rooms range from $600 to $25,000 a night.

It's mildly interesting that you seem to accept that he no longer runs his empire through his children. Also that a decades long pattern of "business" is continuing. Stiff a contractor on the final bill, then tangle them in endless lawsuits and delays till they give up or go bankrupt... It's the main art of his deal.

Yeah.......because a article said so, right?

Was the writer of the article at the negotiations listening in on the details of the scope of work, specifications, and time limits?

Every large contractor in the USA has suits and liens against them from various sub contractors.

I want details.......not a one sided hit piece.

Just because a suit was filed doesn't mean that something bad actually happened. Plus, the IBEW and their cohorts are shysters that have given me a fit both personally and professionally, so even though I can easily believe Trump stiffed someone, I wouldn't believe the IBEW if they said that poop stinks..

Yeah.......because a article said so, right?

What's that supposed to mean?

You've never cited "a article" on DP to support a claim you've made? Or is it that "a article" is always "fake news" unless it says positive things about Trump?

The details are in the article. You have to actually read it to know them. The article provides links to other sources. You have the read them too. Then, if you want more information, you have to find it yourself.

I really don't understand why people like you think they make their position stronger by rejecting evidence and demanding more evidence be given in the same post. Do you actually think you have successfully cloaked the fact that all you are doing is shooting the messenger and running away?

trump inc is not trump.
there is a difference. if you would have bothered to notice but as usual you didn't.

trump organization =/= trump.

basic understanding of business 101, and actually the suit is against the hotel itself if you had bothered to read.

Contractors file liens against Trump D.C. hotel for unpaid labor - UPI.com

In developments of this scale and complexity the filing of nominal liens at the conclusion of construction is not uncommon as part of the close out process,"

which is true. more so on big jobs like this or big buildings where there is a lot of costs involved.
however usually what is surprising is that for most jobs like this there are pay outs when certain phases are done.

I have heard that Don Cheeto Agent Orange has a new book out; 'Art of the LIAR' which is a layman's guide to running (sorry) ruining a business .........

............ America, for example .............

Yup, in our business, for commercial clients it's one third down, one third upon rough in, and the final third upon completion of the job. It's pretty much the standard contract in the Houston area.

The Trump Organization is indeed Trump. He never placed his empire is a true blind trust.

His two oldest sons (Eric/Donald Jr.) supposedly manage the empire on a day-to-day basis, but nothing prevents communication between President Trump and his sons.

In a true blind trust, the business trustee is never a family member and never has any contact with the principal (Trump) after the trust is activated.

When I was doing it we were the same only it was 50% upfront and 25% and 25%.
I think that was a bit heavy handed but the guy running the company was a jerk.

I was put in some bad situations at times as well due to him pulling some questionable issues.
after I quit I went back and apologized to the people.

No Trump Inc is not trump see any corporation setup.

that still doesn't mean trump inc is trump.

In a true blind trust, the business trustee is never a family member and never has any contact with the principal (Trump) after the trust is activated.

it doesn't have to be a blind trust. trump inc is not trump. that is why corporations are formed to isolate the owner from the corporation.

it is normal for these types of things to occur in big contracts. contractors do it all the time to ensure they are paid. this is not anything out of the norm.

these companies probably have 10 or 20 more just like it on file.

Of course it's trumps fault!! We all know there is never bad contractors out in the real world .... the evil rich are always screwing the hard working.......lol do any of you live in the real world?? I do lots of development for myself and one of the many problems is dealing with the "honest hard working " contractor....

The Trump empire is indeed Trump. He remains the sole owner with no legal barrier between his civic office and his business empire.

it doesn't have to be a blind trust.
Either divestiture or a true blind trust is required. Trump has opted for neither recourse to avoid looming conflicts of interest.
