House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz on Thursday morning said Attorney General Jeff Sessions should recuse himself from any investigation into ties between President Donald Trump’s campaign and Russian officials, joining a growing number of Republicans calling for such a move.

“AG Sessions should clarify his testimony and recuse himself,” Chaffetz tweeted, after a series of reports spilled out about Sessions meeting twice with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak last year, while Sessions served as a chief adviser to Trump’s campaign. Sessions, during his confirmation hearing, had testified that he did not have communications with the Russians during Trump’s campaign.

Unless something happens to yank attention off of Sessions, and something soon, then it's probably safe to say this guy is on his way out.

The problem with the Trump administration is there are so many controversies that it is almost impossible to focus on one. We are sort seeing the beginning of a forest fire on a dry windy day.... it will get much worse before the firefighters can figure out how to contain it.

We have Trump to thank for it. He telegraphed his intentions to bury the investigations so vocally that he alarmed the entire previous government into making sure that all intelligence collected on the matter was properly widespread enough to never be buried.

But we also have the stupidity of Trump's men themselves to thank. Lying under oath? Stupid stupid stupid.

Sessions should definitely clarify as soon as possible, but it might already be too late for him.

Yeah, "clarifying" is typically useful before you've been outed for lying under oath about something so serious.

Quite possibly. Short tenure. But, Caesar's wife must be beyond suspicion, I guess.

But I am more interested in the whole of the "Russian connection" and would very much like it probed by Congress and the FBI. The same is true of the FBI having said that the Russians might have material on Trump. We should know, what that material was.

Sessions is added to the dubious list alongside Flynn, Tillerson, Stone, Manafort, and Page.

How dare you anti-Trumpers continue to impugn the integrity of newly elected President Trump and his newly appointed AG Jeff Sessions! Just kidding. This pesky call for investigations of prior contact between Trump operatives and Russian operatives continues to grate on Trump's nerves. At this rate, one month and ten days into his Administration, I predict a meltdown in his future and don't expect him to complete his term. Stonewalling has not worked. In fairness to both men, let them bury themselves with further explanations of how too many of us misinterpret and misconstrue their words. Trump, the most narcissistic President in my 60 year lifetime, prefers the comfort of adoring fans. He has no choice but to deal with the formidable force of his domestic opposition. At this point, that opposition includes the MSM. He has referred to them as the Enemy of the People. Sometimes Trump seems to imply you only retain your status as Part of The People if you support him.

Speaking of Caffetz, I'd love to see him or Trey Gowdy as AG.

With Pretty Boy Chaffetz, one of the most far right political hacks in Congress, calling for Sessions to recuse himself, I found myself wondering if Chaffetz's latest Town Hall experience factored into his decision. I smell a Rat abandoning loyalty, scared of further personal political liability.

Nope he won't be on the way out. he didn't lie or say anything wrong in regards to the questions asked.

I find it interesting that the so called media isn't reporting accurately but then again that isn't something new.

He's recusing himself.

Never been impressed with Caffetz. Trey Gowdy looks sort of goofy, but he's obviously very bright and was an apparently incredibly effective prosecutor. I have a lot more respect for him than Caffetz or Sessions.

Yeah, he didn't lie, just was testifying as the AG, but not commenting on what he was doing as a Senator while part of the Trump campaign...

The 'so called media'- is that anything like a 'so called judge' ???

Yeah how dare the media use direct quotes, video clips and quotes from other Republicans... :doh

they could be honest about it. instead of misquoting but that is asking too much from the liberal media to be honest.

your right he didn't lie glad at least 1 liberal has it figured out maybe.

He wasn't asked what he did as a senator. He was asked about communications between trumps campaign and the Russian government.

Gowdy strikes me as VERY smart. And I like he can grill someone about an issue and get nasty without getting nasty. I suppose that doesn't make much sense. I guess I mean that Gowdy is a very eloquent speaker with lots of skill in diplomacy.

What misquote??? He VOLUNTEERED he had no communications (guess he was hiding behind the fig leaf of not as the AG) I'm right he didn't lie as the AG, just lied as a sitting senator and member of the Trump campaign... you are pretty good at misquoting yourself....do you work for the media??? ;)

Funny you claim he is so innocent as he has re-cused himself AND members of his own party are calling for investigations...

Did the media make up that as well???? :peace

This is VERY serious!
I hear Maxine Waters and Bernie Sanders are going to have the investigation moved to the Hague, where it will get a FAIR hearing.

So you think loyalty to the party line is more important than saying what you mean? Politics is humanity at its worst.

Outside of Trey Gowdy, no one might have tried harder to keep the pressure on Hillary over Benghazi than Chaffetz. Do you think that had anything to do with partisan politics? Last week, every MSM outlet, including FOX NEWS, showed Chaffetz looking rattled at a town hall meeting. Some of us recognize the obvious and connect the dots. Do you think Trump or Chaffetz's primary motivation comes from helping as many people as possible? I don't. I think they pander for personal glory. Bernie has a far stronger proclivity to say what he means in hope of providing a better quality of life for more people.

O Bernie has a far stronger proclivity to say what he means in hope of providing a better quality of life for more people.

Every time I hear BErnie Sanders I think of one of those kooks with a bullhorn standing on a milk crate in Central PArk, dressed in cordory pants and and checked coat, LOL

Kind of amazing that anybody takes him seriously ,since nobody did his whole career.

I agree that there is a lot of grandstanding. It seems to infect politics at all levels. I have never suggested that politicians in general put the common good above personal interest. I agree that Bernie believes what he says. It is not in the best interests of our society, though, in my view.

Based on image alone, you may have a valid point. Picture Stephen Hawking showing up unannounced in Central Park in his wheelchair to discuss theoretical physics. Do you think those who do not recognize him would give anything he has to say any credibility? The fact that Trump owns his own helicopter and for decades has had people at his beck and call adds to Trump's list of Presidential Qualifications. All grins! I do not believe for a minute Trump's private sector success transfers to competency in the public sector. I do not expect him to finish his term.

B Do you think those who do not recognize him would give anything he has to say any credibility? .

Oh I don't think there's a shortage of idiots who still buy recycled Bolshevik nonsense. LAFF
