If it seems like your internet browsing is hitting more walls than possible today, you’ll be happy to know that it’s not your computer. A massive Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage is striking down lots and lots of web pages, leading to huge hiccups on a number of domains. Amazon is reporting the issue on its AWS dashboard, citing “Increased Error Rates,” which is a fancy way of saying that something is seriously broken.ne 8 will do the unthinkableAmazon Web Services is the cloud services arm of Amazon, and its Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) is used by everyone from Netflix to Reddit. When it goes down — or experiences any type of increased latency or errors — it causes major issues downstream, preventing content from loading on web pages and causing requests to fail.
It?s not just you: Massive internet outage is sweeping the East Coast ? BGR

I hear some are blaming Trump for overturning NN!

I noticed this this morning at home on my comcast service. I am now on FIOS connection at the moment and that always sucks, so no difference

I have no problems with my FIOS.

FIOS sucks?

Wow...

I've seen some slowdowns on my internet service, but minimal. I wonder on what scale who is doing what, to interrupt things?

I'm driving three 32" 1440p monitors. I was streaming several HD videos at once, before getting tried of opening new windows and sites. I'm just on a low budget Comcast plan, and normally get around 60 mbs.

Neither my internet or video card bogged down.

I love my FiOS, I'll never move to a Comcast territory again.

Sucks that Amazon Web services is being hit, since most everything I use is based on it, especially Netflix. Hope the problem is resolved by the time I get home, I have Black Mirror to watch!

How are Amazon and Netflix related?

Yeah well, we use Comcast for internet service at home and for months leading up to the inauguration we were experiencing annoying interruptions in service, most lasting a few minutes, but every now and then longer periods. And these would occur several times a day. Comcast could not (or would not) tell us what was going on.

Since Trump dealt with net neutrality, we haven't had a single interruption in service. So there you go.

It is really amazing just how much the world depends on the internet.. ( including me )

I often wonder just what would happen if somehow a world wide outage ever occurred..

Netflix operates on a license of the Amazon Streaming Services, as do most major sites. If you have 2 minutes, watch this. If you have 5, watch it from the beginning. Kinda brilliant actually.

Your fios connection sucks? Must be on wifi.

Did you guys already forget the thread where Obama was getting blamed for a botnet attack on the flipside of this?

Wasn't that Bush?

This is an amazon web service issue, not an "OMG Entire Internet is Down," issue. Tech sensationalism is almost as bad as political sensationalism

I think you may be underestimating just how much of the internet runs on Amazon Web Services.

Sounds like he has a problem.

I just made that up. I have no idea what that show (?) is about. Football is over. I only watch the local weather, and I know that Nationwide is on my side. Beyond that, I'm avoiding television. I'm slowly becoming more peaceful. It's either less television, or I'm just slowly dying. Hmmmm. Could be both.

I know how many businesses run on it and all but you got to admit the article was sensationalizing the outage. It's a partial outage in an internet lane, it's basically like a car accident. It will be cleared up soon and hopefully none of the businesses were affected too badly.

No it just sucks compared to cable. My office building actually has fiber. My actual office just hasn't got hooked up to it yet as our IT guy is currently trying not to keel over dead in the hospital. The FIOS was just something that once was bundled in to lower the phone bills so I am stuck with it until the powers that be springs for a new geek or the one we have recovers.

Yep it sucks for me. I may just have crappy phone lines. Don't know. I am not on the office network as of yet so I just deal with it. I am cabled into the router that is plugged into the phone lines. I have a smart TV drawing on the wifi here but seldom use it

Then it isn't FIOS.

FIOS = Fiber Optic Service
