To help Idaho, Otter wants Trump to crack down on states with liberal marijuana laws

Re: To help Idaho, Otter wants Trump to crack down on states with liberal marijuana l

I'm sure the laws did change which is why in Colorado you can go to pot stores. If you mean Federal law didn't change, that's true, but state laws did, in several states.

It's still a cash business.

I'm saying that if you disagree with federal law, and I do, the proper course of action is to amend the federal law.

That's ONE option - the other is to change state law, which takes care of state and local pot enforcement efforts (which is their prerogative, obviously) and convince the Feds to back off enforcing pot laws in that state. There really ARE more than one option, and many states have taken an alternative approach than the one you recommend. It's in the public record, what happened!

And unless you're willing to argue that LEOs have a moral or ethical obligation to enforce every law on the books at all times, there is nothing wrong that I see with the Feds using their discretion here and allowing for states to engage in real time experiments with legalization/decriminalization.

Keeps the FedGov out of it.

OK, that's true enough, although the reason is banks cannot accept drug money per federal law, so that part is being enforced.

Maybe he bought stock in private prison companies? Or dealers of equipment to local SWAT teams that could do lots more pot raids? About the only thing that makes sense to me.
I just dont understand all the animosity toward people who want to smoke pot.

But the state of SC has said through its legislature and executive branch that they still WANT pot laws enforced. Those other states have said they do not. So why would you recommend the Feds focus their efforts where the people have said, "Stay out - we don't want you enforcing those laws in THIS state?"
I would like to know how drug usage falls under federal jurisdiction. What clause gives them the authority?

Why do you want people prosecuted and sent to jail for pot? We're already #1 in the WORLD!! for prisoners per capita and in total, so no need to work on that record - seems safe for now. Given limited resources, I'd rather the Feds focus on crap that matters, with real victims, like kidnapping, terrorism, etc. not on people who choose to get high with an unapproved drug. And instead of building more prisons, maybe fix some bridges or roads or something.
Ild vote for taking less income out of eorking peoples pockets or pay down our debt and leave our children eith a smaller finacial burden

Hopefully, the fed will limit itself to enforcement of interstate shipping of illegal narcotics and not the individual use (or even sales and distribution) of narcotics.
