Does anybody besides me remember how Trump became involved in the rink?

The rink was closed in 1980 for a proposed two years of renovations at $9.1 million. Six years and $13 million later, after the problem-plagued work was still not completed by the city, Donald Trump persuaded Mayor Ed Koch to let him complete the work in four months at $2.5 million in order to have it open by the end of the year.[3][4] Koch initially objected but later agreed to Trump's proposal when Trump offered to pay for the renovations himself with the stipulation that he be allowed to run the venue and an adjacent restaurant and use the profits to recoup his costs.[5] Trump hired CIMCO, Canada's largest refrigeration company and the NHL's preferred rink equipment supplier, to complete the project.[6] The city had originally planned to employ the resource-saving – but largely untested – chemical compound Freon, but Trump opted instead for the time-proven use of brine.　The rink reopened to the public on November 13, 1986, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and press conference attended by Koch and Trump, covered by national evening broadcast television news.[7][8] Total cost of renovations by Trump came in under budget at $2.25 million and two months ahead of schedule.

Devos and Trump are pushing for more school choice so that parents can obtain vouchers to send their kids to schools that share their values or homeschool their kids if such options are available. This is what Trump's hatred has come down to...opposition without reason. Contradictory stances to justify that opposition. And when all else fails character attacks.

Anderson Cooper shares the values of this school. That's why it was mentioned.

I wouldn't be so quick as to buy into what Trump & DeVos are selling, my friend.

Government & politicians have been promoting their agenda through school curriculum and educational social constructs for as long as I've been alive. Some has been good, some has been not so good. And those vouchers (if they ever happen) will come with string's attached and those strings will reflect the administration's ideology. Like I said: If you want the government line in your kid's education, go for it.

I don't like what Trump & DeVos are selling, so I'll personally decline if you don't mind.

And your swipe at "only the wealthy" is both stereotyped and misinformed. If the kid's got half a brain, is willing to work hard and has a record of it, and is not a discipline problem, the school will work with the family to make it affordable up to and including a free ride. What they will not do is keep a kid that is not willing to work his best, or that isn't willing to conduct him or herself at the highest personal levels.

Well, you can't argue with his success there. Though I'd argue it's less about the Democrats, and more about government vs free enterprise. In this instance, it seems it worked though.
