Now isn't this interesting. Trump's own pick to lead the State Department has said the same thing libruls have been saying for the past couple months. Do you think there are some 'discussions' taking place in the White House?

Mattis: 'Very little doubt' Russia has interfered in elections

Defense Secretary James Mattis on Thursday said that there was "very little doubt" Russia has attempted to interfere in democratic elections in the past.

"There is very little doubt that they have either interfered or attempted to interfere in a number of elections in democracies," Mattis said while answering questions at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

He added that he does not feel compelled to respond to Russian officials who were not pleased with his call to deal with Moscow from a position of strength.

"I have no need to respond to the Russian statement at all. NATO has always stood for military strength and protection of democracies and the freedoms we intend to pass on to our children," he said.

Um... is anyone saying Russia doesn't try to interfere with the elections of other countries?

Is there any reason for him to deny the obvious?

Imagine that! One nation trying to influence elections in another country...that's just shameful.

Your thread title states "interfered" while the actual statement says "attempted to interfere".

Apologies to you. Good time to bring up the fact that media can't be trusted to portray the news honestly.

What's interesting, is that that isn't even what he said. Context is everything, folks.

Was that before, or after you noticed the headline is a lie?

Are you trying to say that Mattis saying that Russia has interfered with other nations elections means that they interfered with ours?? Because that's NOT what was said. ALL that was said was that Russia did interfere in some nations elections. Why not be honest???

I've heard few people, on either side, suggest that Russia has not attempted to interfere with elections in democracies. I'm not sure what we're supposed to find interesting.

:failpail:

Mattis states the obvious concerning Russian interference in the US Presidential election.

Trump states something different; says it all, "fake news."

So, the SOD & Trump disagree on something so important.

Yes, I also see the fine tuned machine ............

Trump can't bully Mattis, and Mattis isn't known to dance around an issue.

What exactly did Russia do?

The actual quote: "There is very little doubt that they have either interfered or attempted to interfere in a number of elections in democracies,"

A point that nobody is denying. The question is whether or not Russia influenced the last US presidential election.

ZOMG!! Maybe Putin elected Obama!

Had Russia done this in favor of Clinton, US conservatives everywhere would be in froth at the mouth mode.

Anyone think any of the democracies the U.S. has overthrown (never mind tinkering with their elections) have been able to stop rolling their eyes yet?

"Defense Secretary James Mattis on Thursday said that there was "very little doubt" Russia has attempted to interfere in democratic elections in the past."

Yep "very little doubt" they attempted..................................................

So they interfere in other nations' elections. That does not equate to "definitely not ours." Basically your point seems to be "Trump won, so there's nothing to see here." I guess as long as your guy wins, it's perfectly acceptable.

Had Russia done this in favor of Clinton, US conservatives everywhere would be in froth at the mouth mode.

But Trump won, so it's ok. Nothing to see here!

What do you really think the leaks accomplished? I was about as anti-Hillary as you could get and the bottom line with all the leaks was, as far as I saw, that Assange never came up with what he promised he would. There was no bombshell stuff released. There was hardly any "Golly Gee!" stuff released. The Podesta stuff showed coordination between Hillary's campaign and various media sources. It was an insider look at a specific campaign style but it didn't expose anything that wasn't already either common knowledge or at least suspected.

Hillary lost because she was a freaking horrible candidate. She had a load of baggage that would have embarrassed Madeline Astor.

It had virtually no impact on our election whatsoever. People didn't like Hillary to begin with. And the Russians didn't set up her server or destroy her emails for her.
