Oklahoma Lawmaker: Pregnant Women Are 'Hosts' Whose Bodies Don't Belong to Them

Of course it would be a guy who would say this, just like it was a bunch of old white men who surrounded Trump as he signed the anti abortion EO

Always amusing to see democrat-supporters talk about how Republicans just want to kill brown folks overseas... when they support using our tax dollars to kill brown folks overseas and bitch when we're no longer helping cull other civilizations.

Was wondering when you were going to show up. See post #15

No, "mom's rights" do not trump anything.

You do not have a right to kill another human being in aggression; they do have a natural right to their life. Period.

Actually women do, that's why abortion is legal.

Is the unborns body her body? I believe my question is straight forward enough for a yes or no answer.
I’m not convinced it is straight forwards – that’s one of the reasons this is such an impossible issue. While the foetus is a separate individual, they’re directly connected to the mother, created and growing on the nutrients from her.

Also, if it were only about bodily autonomy, wouldn’t the mother be permitted to have a pre-term caesarean or induced birth, something only done to her body to simply separate the two individuals and only leading to the foetus’ death indirectly?

Oklahoma Lawmaker: Pregnant Women Are 'Hosts' Whose Bodies Don't Belong to Them

Women, you may think that the flesh that covers you and the organs and muscles and neurons that make you breathe and poop and eat are your own, but actually they are not. Oklahoma State Rep. Justin Humphrey can see how might “feel like that is” your body, but if you are pregnant, he regrets to inform you that your body is now a “host” and you are an interloping ghost that once used to inhabit it.

Pregnant women only exist as host organisms. Do you believe that, or do women have a right to their own lives?

Is there a risk (beyond the norm) to the health of the mother or child? Yes / No

Is this pregnancy the result of rape Yes / No

Is this the result of incest? Yes / No

If the answer is yes to any of the three... I agree that abortion as an option is a no brainer. If it's three no's.... I cannot in good concious agree to the taking of an innocent human life.

No, I don't support that thinking. Just as I don't support abortion as a birth control crutch/excuse/ or a feminist agenda.

Wow, an actual reasonable response from a respected poster!

I agree that it is morally wrong, but I subscribe to the idea that the government should stay out of it. Yes, that includes funding.

The dip**** could've at least said: Hostess.

Gee, how many times have I heard libs describe a fetus as a parasite on this very forum? Wouldn't this be the logical conclusion of that?

Meh. Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that she's a mother? A mother of the unborn child or children?
Calling the mother a 'host' just seems to too cold and clinical to me.

If it weren't so morbid, it would be like calling water dihydrogen monoxide.

Well, sure, if you ignore the part where this guy thinks the mother doesn't have a right to remove the parasite.

Yes, they are in charge of their bodies. The state cannot own them. Read the 4th amendment.

Ahh, let the deflection begin. It's the liberal way after all.

I really don't see how that could possibly be considered deflection in an abortion discussion.

That has nothing to do with my question. Is the unborn's body the mothers body? Yes or no.

Before the fetus has brain activity? Legally/morally, imo - Yes.

After? No.

After? No.

But factually it's not the same body even before brain activity.

But factually it's not the same body even before brain activity.

It's not a body because it is not a person without brain activity. The instant there is brain activity - imo - that is the instant it becomes a person with a body. Before that, it is just another part of the woman - like a brain or a liver or a bone or an ear.

And I will not argue this point because there is NOTHING you can say that I can remotely imagine that will change my mind on this. Nor vice versa I suspect.

So, further discussion is pointless.

Good day.

Doesn't matter whether you agree with it or not, the woman has the right to abort.

Same thing I told Renae - doesn't matter if you support it or not - women have the right to abort.

Incorrect. It becomes a person upon live birth.

You have the right to be wrong.

You have the right to be wrong.

Ahh the arbitrary political line to make your political truth ignore the biological reality.

"You aren't a person until it's politically convenient for you to be one."

How... sad I am for you.

Can you even fathom how stupid is what you just posted? How do the fetuses in the instances you listed loose their innocence? What guilt do they have?
