[R.I.P.] Hal Moore, portrayed by actor Mel Gibson in 'We Were Soldiers,' dies at age 94

Sad news. I have his book that he signed for me. What a great guy, and one hell of a soldier.

Rest In Peace, Sir.

My dad was in 2/7 CAV in mid-November, 1965.

They're both at The Green.

I met the general in Auburn almost 20 years ago. My mother was working at a local doctor's office and he was one of their patients. Mom told him about me and he told her to have me look him up when I was next in town. I did. We had a long talk -- well, he talked and I mostly listened. One hell of a man.

Here's to your dad, and all those that have been honored to follow the guideon of the 7th:

Hollywood's version of how the 7th got it's song:

Rest in peace.

"Gerryowen, sir!"

That is sad. I was just thinking about getting back in touch with Joe Galloway the other day. I need to do put that at the top of my list now. He admired General Moore and I know this will be a sad loss for him.

Hell of a soldier I wish the whole officer class was more like him

You should definitely prioritize that. Joe Galloway isn't getting any younger.

God Speed Gen. Hal Moore.

RIP.

Nope. He has a place here in Colorado. I have a bottle of special whiskey and Joe, being the old Mic that he is, likes his whiskey.
