The text message indicated the Snohomish County man wanted to kill his wife, saying she had a $1 million life-insurance policy. A judge ordered the suspect held after finding probable cause on two counts of criminal solicitation for first-degree murder domestic violence.

as if that wasn't bad enough...

According to the probable-cause statement, the text message indicated the man was ready to move forward with a plan to kill his wife, saying she was covered by a $1 million life-insurance policy. He suggested if “Shayne” wanted a bonus, he could also kill the couple’s 4-year-old daughter, whose life insurance is worth $500,000, the statement says.

Guy I worked with a couple times was ex-military with a history. He sometimes went to the Soldier of Fortune convention in Las Vegas and he told me guys were hanging out in the hotel lobby trying to hire someone to kill their wife.
I can't think of the right word. Maybe there isn't one. Not for the case you quoted, anyway.

I tend to figure that a guy who does this by text message is not as smart as all that.

I'm not sure that 'not as smart as all that' quite fits the bill, trying to describe that guy.

And why would you bring this particular crock of crap into this thread?

Man offering an additional bonus to kill a child to collect an insurance policy. Did you read the op?

If only all people as evil as he were also as stupid as he.

I keep saying that phones need to be child-proofed. Either a 4 year old sent the text, or an unemployed redneck man with the IQ of a 4 year old did

As far as his guilt, his story that the daughter sent it doesn't seem believable to me. Also the draft as a way of venting excuse seems very suspicious. Why the hell would he in some fantasy offer to have his daughter killed too after a fallout with his wife? And then keep it on the phone for months? The only reason to include the daughter at all seems to be he wanted the $500k and he had a plan in motion

What in your world does a bunkum article about something labeled 'Seattle freeze' have to do with a man offering to pay someone to kill his child? C'mon, please explain this line of reasoning. I seriously want to know what you're thinking.

You evil human being, have you not learned from our Glorious Leader Inslee that killing is never right? Or our glorious AG Ferguson that guns are bad?

Move east of the mountains. Then your vote might count. But then again...

I have too many teeth to move east of the mountains.

Besides I would make less $$$ over there and they would call me a communist spy to boot. I'm more comfortable here West

However wanting to kill someone over a maybe might fly more out east, you should ask them over there

I "visit" often. Wine and sunshine. Couldn't live there.

I could. The people are fantastic and property values low (read inexpensive to live)

I just have no family permanently living there, and no incentive job wise because the same work in Eastern WA pays less then Western. I would have to move to Spokane to get wages on parity with what I earn in Olympia and Spokane is too far from where I grew up.

Luckily for us (and especially his family), most criminals really are dumber than a bag of hammers....

I'll say that whichever lawyer the mother hires will face one of the easiest post-divorce child custody battles they'll likely encounter.

Per usual, you guys aren't going about this the right way.

My first reaction was: "What did that horrible woman do to drive him to this?"
