"A Kentucky sheriff’s deputy has been suspended for 24 days without pay after a racist and Islamophobic Facebook comment in late January.

The Boyd County Sheriff’s Department in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, told local news station WSAZ on Tuesday that one of its deputies had left the following comment on a personal Facebook account.

“THAT MUSLIM HOLLER MONKEY HAS BEEN EVICTED....NOW HIM AND HIS SHEMALE NEED TO GET GONE.”

The comment was deleted soon after posting, but witnesses had taken a screen shot and shared it with local media and the sheriff’s department."

If they don't fire him, and he shoots an unarmed muslim, or any other brown person for that matter, there will be hell to pay. Why does law enforcement attract these kinds of people? It almost seems a call for help, an attempt to sabotage themselves out of a job... or just plain stupid. But then again, racists are often, though not quite always, pretty low wattage brain power kinda folks.

I wonder what they're being paid. If you're paying security-guard money you won't get the best and brightest.
 
Why is it anytime someone posts something bigoted and hateful about Islam practitioners it's racist? Are people that dumb who right for the Huffington post??? It's not racist. Prejudiced, hateful and bigoted yes, racist NO Islam is not a race.

I take back what I said. I read the article and realized he was talking about the Obama's. Yes that was indeed a racist remark.

Many departments have it set in policy to not hire people with above average intellegence. Their justification is smart people will likely get bored with mundane police work and quit after the department has spent thousands of dollars training them.

And there are legitimate reasons to be bigoted against Obama. Just because you aren't doesn't mean another person can't be or is wrong for being so.

2. No. The difference here lies in claiming "racist" when there is no evidence of such and not differentiating between disparaging words spoken on-duty vs those spoken while off-duty.

So it being directed at a couple of the most prominent individuals who happen to be black would make it racist?
No. Just as it wasn't racist when Bush was referred to a chimp and monkey, it also isn't racist now either.

Now if one can show the person who said it was a racist, then yeah, it can be interpreted as such, until then it can't.

Believing that Obama, being black, is akin to a "monkey" is never going to be a "legitimate form of bigotry" (a concept that seems pretty ridiculous, actually).
And this deputy's comment is absolutely an indicator of his (lack of) soul.

Meanwhile suggesting that Obama is a "Muslim" merely reveals the speaker's idiocy.
