Ohio Pastor Claims Chicago Gangs Want To Work With Trump To Fight Crime « CBS Chicago

The founder and pastor of a megachurch in Ohio told President Donald Trump he has spoken to gang leaders in Chicago who want to work with the White House to reduce violent crime.

I saw this on the news this morning and was intrigued. I'd be REALLY interested to see how this unfolds. I don't know if the pastor is just shining everyone on but if he's being straight that's a definite step in the right direction.

Lessee now? We could fire half the Police and give the money saved to the gangs for entrepreneural activities and they could sink or swim in their own septic tank. Just an example, but what could possibly go wrong? On the other hand, what is going right in Chicago? The gangs are making money woth drugs. Make all drugs legal. No more money as it is the illicit nature of the drugs that make the money. Al Capone was a big supporter of Prohibition, don't ya' know? Chicago's track record shows how not to do things that work. Perhaps recognizing that fact might give a reasonable starting point for the future.

I think Trump has the right idea when it comes to gangs. They are organized crime and domestic terrorist organizations that should be eradicated with the support of the National Guard.

It doesn't sound right. It would be like Al Capone saying he'd work with the government to help end prohibition.

It'll go something like this: 'This guy who my sister had a baby by and I share a house in some Ohio ghetto hell full of homies who will kill off my relatives if I snitch?! He deals crack! Get'um boys!'

The Post-Trump insanity. It's getting there.

So is the catholic church.
They shield child rapists and even more disgustingly move them around to new hunting grounds, and threaten people with eternal pain and torment unless their rules are followed.
Just saying.

How come one group gets vilified and the other glorified?

I know he was working with Jim Brown about fixing inner cities and Jim Brown has an extensive history of working with gangs, so I wouldn't be surprised. I really like Trump's talk about fixing inner city problems and if the first few weeks are any indicator, we should be seeing some action shortly.

Am I on your "Ignore" list? See post #6

As seems to be Trump's modus operandi he talks about "fixing inner city problems" without actually having any plans to do so or seemingly to have done little more than say the words just to assuage the minds of the acolytes.

Should we ignore President Trump on this, because so far the plans that have been implemented have been succesful?

If you think of chaos and troubled international relations as "successful" - have fun. If you were to think as many Americans and the majority of citizens in the developed world, who see the first two weeks of the Trump presidency as exemplifying the worst predictions made prior to his election - you would disagree with the definition of "successful" as used by the Trumpites.

Yeah, so far policies in the inner-cities have been a smashing success. Let's stick with that!

Yeah, I read your post and maybe the pastor doesn't have the courage to stand by his convictions in this matter. Do you expect anyone to believe he was tired and just uttered this and it has nothing to do with leftist pressure? I mean, you guys are in full meltdown mode right now, so it's definitely the more plausible reason.

As far as Trump doing nothing yet, he's been in office for 5 minutes so far and there isn't a moment that he hasn't been the focal point of leftist rage because of all of the work he's gotten done. Just give him a few more seconds will you?

Of course the young criminals would like to work law enforcement. They'd make a lot more MOB.

But later that afternoon, Scott reversed himself in phone interviews with Chicago TV stations WGN and WFLD.

“I misspoke,” he told WGN. “I only had three hours of sleep at the time. I meant to say former street thugs. Former.”

WFLD reporter Mike Flannery also spoke with Scott by phone.

“So, there are no gang leaders offering to reduce the body count in exchange for federal funds?” Flannery asked Scott.

“No! I mean, c’mon now! (Laughs) No!” Scott responded. He admitted he only spoke with one former gang member and no gang leaders.

Local pastor says he ‘misspoke’ about meeting with Chicago’s ‘top gang thugs’ | fox8.com

The man was so tired that he made up stuff about gang-leaders, he spoke with one former gang member, all smoke and a boatload of mirrors but no substance with this pastor.

This indeed is intriguing. I hope it isn't just a flash in the pan story or one the MSM won't cover at all so we can follow progress on this.

Well, I hope for the pastor that the MSM is not going to follow progress on this because it will make him look like and even bigger joke.

Hey.(greeting) Do you think his conversation with a former thug was informative? I see an honest effort tarnished by a lie.

ending crime and violence is important, but not like this pastor did. And a former gang member is not going to give you a lot of information I think, maybe a former gang-leader would be more informative but former gang members can be minor nobody's too.

Trump extends a hand and comes back minus two fingers. Honestly, I can see a shake down coming. I cant remember the name of the gang but a NY gang received a Federal grant by setting up a fake after school program for teens in the area. Gang members were helping kids with their homework.....not really.

It was a front and they wound up busting them for it.

Lol...that majority only exist in your head. The reality is there are still A LOT of butt hurt HRC supporters who still haven't come to terms with their loss, and boy are they noisy. They're inability to accept this defeat like adults doesn't make them the majority, it just makes them pathetic

Or is throwing endless tantrums and raging over the results of election the Democrats new strategy for wooing middle class blue collar voters ? I dont get the DNCs newsletter so I have to assume it is. FYI, its a terrible strategy. Alienating the very voters you need to win back majorities in Congress and the Presidency seems counterproductive to me

" Hell all you racist NAZI deplorables that voted for Trump, join resistance and march for peace this Saturday night ( bring handkerchiefs soaked in milk, Molotov cocktail will be provided free of charge ) "

Because if hate-filled invective's and lazy Hitler analogies and destruction of public and private property didn't convince enough Americans to vote for your candidate, then its time to kick it up a notch....

We got so comfy tanning in the sun for 8 years. Now we are the deplorable. It switched that quickly.

We must dust off our cardigan sweaters and jackets w/elbow patches. We have to fight the good fight. Guerilla warfare is our style.

shit. Maybe I said too much.

National Guard can't get involved with activity like this. Slippery slope. I agree with you in principal if it wasn't for that slippery slope of using the National Guard for law enforcement against US citizens.

The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878 by President Rutherford B. Hayes. The purpose of the act – in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807 – is to limit the powers of the federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. It was passed as an amendment to an army appropriation bill following the end of Reconstruction, and was subsequently updated in 1956 and 981.
