Ugh.
Every generalization about the "youth of America" going back decades has been proven ridiculously wrong, but hey, don't let that stop you.
Ugh.
Another faceless nobody on a chat forum who thinks he knows it all and yet provides no factual evidence to back up their condescending rhetoric.
Well...unlike you...I have a little data.
I say that the youth of America appears to be more thin skinned, ignorant and dependent on the government.
a) thin skinned...the link in the post I quoted above has Jerry Seinfeld saying he no longer goes to colleges because they are too PC. I am going to take the word over a staggeringly successful and very intelligent guy then an online no one on that.
When I went to university...it was the exact opposite. The young were feisty and detested PC nonsense - always trying to push the envelope with the establishment pushing back. Now if seems to be the opposite...at least compared to people in their 30's and 40's (maybe even early 50's).
b) ignorant...this Icelandic study states that every generation seems to be getting a little dumber. Or at the very least, more ignorant.

c) dependant on the government - well that should be a 'well duh' one. But if you need some evidence, just look at all the people - especially the youth - who have no problem whatsoever with bigger government, huge deficits, free education at any cost to taxpayers, a doubling of the minimum wage (for doing ZERO extra work) and even a guaranteed income. Back when I was in university (mid-late 80's), huge deficits, huge/evil governments and guaranteed income would have been laughable to most of us. And back than - I was liberal.
I assume you are well reads enough to be aware of all of these trends.
Finally, not scientific at all, but look at contemporary music. Check out the Billboard top 100
Music: Top 100 Songs | Billboard Hot 100 Chart | Billboard One saong after another with voice synthesizers, singing about light fluffy stuff with really pretty people singing it (with a few exceptions)...and almost EVERY one of them with a good beat.
GO back to the 70's...rock and roll dominated...nuff said about that. And look at the '90's (my personal fav time for music)...raw, edgy stuff that was as deep and jagged as you could go. two lead guitars, a base and a drum kit with everyone on stage wearing whatever they happened to throw on. The Seattle sound. And a beat? Who gave a ****?
Music represents the time. Today - everyone lives on credit. Don't think about tomorrow - just have fun today. Live beyond your means. Life is easy...so is the music. Back in the 70's and especially the 90's...life was less easy, less happy...music reflected that. The youth of the 90's were sick of the Reagan 80's...so they rebelled. YOu could not live for tomorrow because credit was REALLY hard to get (today - ANY loser can get credit). You had to pay for what you earned for the most part.
Now that is my quick evidence.
Now where is yours - oh superior one - that proves I am wrong.
