'A senior U.S. Secret Service agent posted Facebook condemnations of President Trump during the past seven months, including one in which she said she wouldn't want to "take a bullet" for him.

She explained herself saying she viewed his presidential candidacy as a "disaster" for the country, and especially for women and minorities.'

Thoughts?

Honest, correct, and unemployed.

Well, it's kind of hard to put myself into the mindset of a person who would take a bullet for anybody, but if any of us had to could we really do so for someone like him? O'Grady, while thinking she could do it when she initially pursued her career path, clearly didn't predict doing so in a circumstance such as a donald presidency. It was an extreme scenario, she made an honest decision in light of it, and I commend her for that.

I wish her the best in her future endeavors.

The respect for our Secret Service continues to spiral down further. Unfortunately the bad apples taint the other agents who faithfully perform their jobs without fanfare.

How has the respect for our Secret Service spiraled down? O'Grady met with an extreme scenario and made a moral decision in light of it.

Why do people get commended for being honest when what they are being honest about is a horrible thing

Horse****. You do it for respect for the office and the country, not the man occupying it. She is betraying one of the primary principles of her agency. Fire her.

A morally wrong decision

She's not protecting Trump, she's protecting the President. She's going to be fired I'll bet. You can't have anyone around who demonstrates the slightest doubt.

Didn't she resign? If she didn't then I retract the position that she acted morally.

Even if she resigned it's still morally wrong other recent presidents have done some pretty bad things. This seems to be purely about her personal dislike of Trump. Even if she leaves now that still means the rest of her career was a lie.

It's morally wrong to resign from a job one eventually finds to be morally objectionable? I'm sorry, but that's just goofy.

I am certainly glad that the military doesn't pick and choose in the manner this lady did.

We wouldn't have been able to get a single ship underway in the past 8 years, or deploy our troops..

I sincerely doubt anyone is going to seriously argue that she should keep her job, unlike that clerk who wanted to stay on even as she was "morally" unable to sign marriage certificates for gay people.

It's interesting that you bring that up, because what you say elicits the Nuremberg Trial analogy.

Thoughts?

Her career is over. the SS is already looking into this and she will probably be fired.

SS I am sure has disagreed with a lot of presidents and their views on things.
The job though is to protect the president regardless of their political feelings.

if she can't do it then she doesn't need to be SS anymore.
her opinion is meaningless next to the duty that she signed up for
no matter who the president is.

This is nothing like Nuremberg the comparison is just laughable.

In fairness, I think we both know how much more dangerous it is to sign your name than to be shot. You can't compare this agent with Kim Davis. Davis had an ACTUAL conflict with morals, not like this agent who only had to decide if she would be willing to lose her life for someone else. Totally different and you should be ashamed of yourself for comparing this situation to the honorable Kim Davis. ;)

Seriously though, if a Secret Service agent isn't willing to protect the person they are entrusted to protect, then they shouldn't be in the job of protecting. Perhaps another job in the agency or a new job altogether, but if you cannot be sure you'd do your job, then you need to find another job. Like Kim Davis should have.

one is a constitutional right the other is not. the fact you don't know the difference is scary.

The job didnt change only her morals did. And im going to say it now and stand behind it forever, if you find protecting the US presidents life to be a morally objectionable job then you are a horrible person.

Admiting that you can't do your job anymore is to be commended. There is nothing immoral about not be willing to take a bullet for Trump. It just means you shouldn't be in the Secret Service. If what she admitted was that she wanted to shoot Trump then you would have a point.

That said, in this case she didn't admit these things to her supervisor. She posted on her social media. So she shouldn't get any credit.
