FBI, 5 other agencies probe possible covert Kremlin aid to Trump

Like I said, what was confirmed?

You have to actually read the words in the post. That's how this mode of communication works.

I just hope they either find that the nothing was actually hacked or find those guilty and stick some justice on their arse. FYI, this is not as much about trump as Russians attempting to hack into our systems and we are no only talking for election purposes, think about your electrical grid going down for weeks or even months. So this is what they are doing then we need to react in kind and while at it ensure that our systems are as safe as they can be made. We are talking National Security here folks, the election is a done deal and it is highly doubtful anything will be discovered that would change the outcome so forget that idea and I doubt that is the purpose of the investigations. Just one final thought, like it or not all these agencies would not be doing this if there was not some serious smoke in the air.

The Chicoms hacked the crap out of us; it's been confirmed. Where was the outrage and the justice up their ass?

Good.

Let all the investigations get completed as quickly as possible.

If there was collusion, then put the guilty in jail, sanction the hell out of Russia and Putin, then seize their assets to pay for the cost of the investigation and trial.

If there was no collusion, then require the people making these claims to pay the bill for the cost of the investigations.

Well that's certainly easy sounding. Good thing the investigation doesn't surround a complete political cluster****.

[Obligatory Fake News Comment]

Wait, wait, wait....I thought the hackers were a elite group of super-duper KBG Russian hackers, not that Russia just outsourced the hacking. They have to get their stories straight.

At least you didn't disappointed.

Anyway, I am sorry for your thoughts. The uproar was over the fact that Trump chose to dismiss the reports and attack intelligence agencies instead of agreeing that the reports should be further looked into......like any other individual of Presidential character would do. There weren't specific identified culprits because, again, investigations take time. They have to, you know, investigate. Only after that do they come up with conclusions.

If there's any truth to the accusations, the press will get the information out in lightening speed. Hell, they're already doing that with unverified and unsubstantiated rumors - imagine how quickly they should report on the truth.

If the investigations prove anything that is worth an impeachment, there are more than enough Republicans that would vote with Democrats in the House to Impeach Trump and more than enough in the Senate to convict and remove him from office. Political cluster**** notwithstanding.

I've said this very thing for months prior to the election, and it's no less true now.

Another "intelligence" leak?

"The FBI and five other law enforcement and intelligence agencies have collaborated for months in an investigation into Russian attempts to influence the November election, including whether money from the Kremlin covertly aided President-elect Donald Trump, two people familiar with the matter said."

What no names mentioned as sources in the story?

It looks like those Trump appointees taking over the intelligence agencies have a heck of a house cleaning to do.

Huh? I'm not the one that was saying that. That's what we were told.

Were you? I guess whoever told you that might have been wrong, then. But still, it's probably best to see what the investigation turns up.

Trump conned at least 6000 people (the number of people represented in the class action lawsuit) to the tune of $35,000 each for a total of 210 million dollars for his Trump University scam. He sold the university on the premise that they would learn his real estate secrets from his personally hand-picked instructors. He had no relationship with the instructors and the customers lost tens of thousands of dollars each for nothing. In fact, even when they did receive real information, they could expect to learn to commit illegal behavior. However, Trump University wasn't finished with them quite yet. There is the 98% approval rating Trump famously touted. What he did not elaborate on was that the customers were made to write non-anonymous reviews before they were allowed to received their worthless degrees (T.U. was not an accredited university) or receive extra help from instructors, which is basically the equivalent of being told at a restaurant that you won't receive your car keys back from the valet until you write a Yelp review while the manager is watching you write it. Only, the latter is nowhere near as bad, because if you did decide to write a terrible Yelp reviewer after the fact at least you'd have your car back. If the students announced after the fact that the University was a scam then they'd be broadcasting that the fake degree they just paid $35,000 for was worthless.

Everything he just posted was confirmed.

Like he said.

It was never proven. You know that, right?

Again, you have to actually read the words in the post. Debate Politics functions by reading and writing. I can't upload the knowledge directly into your brain. If that were possible, obviously that would be the chosen manner for communicating with each other.

Show us the evidence.

You have to actually read the post. You should also weigh out the possible benefits of clicking on the links.

I feel like you guys are looking for a birth certificate.

Except that the "you guys" here is the entirety of the intelligence community buttressed by Trump's own actions favoring Russia over our closest and oldest alliances.

Russia - Trump...rabble rabble rabble.

What's been confirmed?

The government has known about the Russian pension scam for a few years now. It provides/provided Russia with a way to launder money into the US bypassing scrutiny, or it did until American 3 letter agencies discovered the Russian ruse. Russia initially used the pension scam to pay for informants within the Russian population that emigrated to the US. There is probably much more to it than that. At any rate that much we do know. To that degree it isn't the fake news all y'all are screaming about.

That there is or may be more to it than we know is something you'll have to take up with the 3 letter agencies that you no longer trust because Putin told you not to.

Six agencies, running an investigation for nearly a year? I'm thinking they don't have anything.

What does that have to do with President Trump?

No, they weren't my thoughts. That's what we were told. Now the story is changing. I just don't know what to believe anymore.

Maybe, maybe not. Usually (Hillary Clinton being the exception to the rule) we don't find these things out until either an indictment is published with associated charges prior to a trial, or a deal is struck without having to go to court.

WASHINGTON — The FBI and five other law enforcement and intelligence agencies have collaborated for months in an investigation into Russian attempts to influence the November election, including whether money from the Kremlin covertly aided President-elect Donald Trump, two people familiar with the matter said.

The agencies involved in the inquiry are the FBI, the CIA, the National Security Agency, the Justice Department, the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network and representatives of the director of national intelligence, the sources said.

Investigators are examining how money may have moved from the Kremlin to covertly help Trump win, the two sources said. One of the allegations involves whether a system for routinely paying thousands of Russian-American pensioners may have been used to pay some email hackers in the United States or to supply money to intermediaries who would then pay the hackers, the two sources said. <snip>

So. Who didn't see this coming?
For some reason I'm still not completely convinced that Russia was involved at all. I know that basically the entire intelligence community says Russia WAS involved, but I have such cynicism and distrust of government in general and intelligence agencies in particular that I have to consider the possibility that they're either intentionally lying or just wrong.

Some of the recent information on this topic seems to be...shaky, at best. I suppose more concrete info might require knowledge of sources and methods, but at the same time we're talking a foreign power intentionally influencing a presidential election.

But not quite.

I do not know what may or may have been done, I do know that the US Government will not use any of their Telecom Equipment because of some of their little backdoor tricks. If we did anything it would be doubtful we would be privy to the information, this is mainly a silent war that is being waged, the problem comes in when the Cyber and Real World wars come together, at that point I am not sure anyone knows what will go down.
