Democrats aim to launch comeback with Cabinet showdown
An opposition strategy for January confirmation hearings is emerging: To expose Trump's campaign platform as a 'scam

“His campaign, based on his nominations, was a charade. [H]e sold the American public on a story that is a false story. It is a scam,” said Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), who was recently promoted to chief deputy whip. “He said: ‘I’m for working people and for taking on Wall Street, I’m for draining the swamp.’ And his nominees say the exact opposite.”

Senate Democrats want to force Trump’s picks to lay down markers on specific policies that can be used to build a case against the incumbent as his administration unfolds and the next election approaches, insiders said. More immediately, they want to begin to make the case to Trump voters that what they voted for is a far cry from what they’ll be getting with the next president.

1) that they can craft a narrative that sells better than the one Trump spins is highly unlikely based upon their recent record of poor work and as well that they apparently have learned little from their crushing last month

2) Starting out trying to show up Trump, then getting crushed again as Trump both gets his people and moves America forwards will highlight yet again that these jokers are incompetent time wasters who should never be handed an important job, cause they just are not interested in working for America.

So their line of attack is that he's not going to do all those things he said he was going to do that we thought were so awful we threw a six-week tantrum over them, and tried to get the election overturned for?

I don't see democrats being able to do anything to block Trump's nominations. They bit themselves in the ass in 2013.

On November 21, 2013, the Senate voted 52-48, with all Republicans and 3 Democrats voting against, to eliminate the use of the filibuster against all executive branch nominees and judicial nominees other than to the Supreme Court. At the time of the vote there were 59 executive branch nominees and 17 judicial nominees awaiting confirmation.[SUP][59][/SUP]

all it takes is 51 votes to confirm them thanks to harry reid.

there is little they can do to stop his cabinet appointments.

They admit that right now, yet they still have decided that they are going to waste tons of America's time with one of their Amateur Hour shows.

Meanwhile Trump will be on a tear trying to get work done.

The optics are going to suck for the D's.

They dont know this yet.

Cause they suck.

Harry won't be quite as smuck in the coming months, and he will be bashing in his TV screen when see's the Trump's nomination pass.

I hope it causes heart stoppage.

He is a sorry, cruel, and vindictive human being.

The R's should schedule 15 hours days 6 days a week, if these pricks want to play more of the BS DC ELITE games that America has just rejected then they need to be greatly inconvenienced for their stupidity and unwillingness to get to work.

This is going to be all net for the R's.

That's a HAWKeYE10 prediction.

I can see why this would be a strategy well worth looking in to because when those picks have to lay out the details on the hows and whys of their strategies, the media will report exactly what they said and if they get in there the public can hold them accountable for what they told Congress.

And I wouldn't doubt seeing a good number of GOP lawmakers expressing their concerns as well on the final selection votes. ;)

No they wont, because the R's are going to trust that they working with Trump is going to get work done, and that they will be rewarded for working at the ballot box. The R's are going to be a unified front under the leadership of Trump, and they will mostly stay loyal, because if they dont Trump and his allies will punish them greatly. Already Congressional R's have learned to keep their yaps shut in public.

Trump posse browbeats Hill Republicans
Lawmakers are loath to say anything remotely critical, fearful they might set off the president-elect or his horde of enforcers

Good. At least they have a plan. I'm sure the media will play along. And, maybe, just maybe, a few Republicans will get on board too.

Politics is politics. My guess is the D will bet on Trump overplaying his hand, and he just might.

This would be the same media that could not stop the election of Trump and which took a reputation beating for their attempt?

Maybe, but at some point they are going to decide to save themselves.

By getting back to journalism.

Too bad they didn't keep it quiet as the hell no unanimous obstruction GOP did eight years ago .

False: The GOP mostly gave Obama the people he wanted without arguing about it.

Perhaps some time curling with history would do you good?

Yes, EVERYBODY!

Except that more Americans actually wanted Hillary as their president

False, or should I say blatant irrational lie:

Short memory on why Reid had to pull McConnell's nuclear trigger in late 2014 due to filibusters on cabinet and judicial appointees.

How many judicial appointees were approved the last two years?

Yer about to find out what leading is all about, something the GOPukes have obstructed for eight years.

Once they repeal, let's see what they replace it with .

Yes, EVERYBODY!

They conveniently forget the inconvenient truth of the unanimous obstruction of the GOP for the last eight years .

Trump is very good about the use of both the carrots and the sticks....expect a yes.

we've all seen trump talk softly and carry a big stick :lamo

Wow you threw a six-week tantrum?
