So the D's finally have a short term plan

Yes, EVERYBODY!

Except that more Americans actually wanted Hillary as their president

No, not really. They bought the lies the Leftist press was printing.

Someday history books will tell ya'all how Obama got elected unless Dems have stomped and spun themselves into the ground by then.

Politics is politics. My guess is the D will bet on Trump overplaying his hand, and he just might.

Get ready for GOP excuses for huge trump deficits .

I don't see democrats being able to do anything to block Trump's nominations. They bit themselves in the ass in 2013.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_option#Events_of_November_2013
On November 21, 2013, the Senate voted 52-48, with all Republicans and 3 Democrats voting against, to eliminate the use of the filibuster against all executive branch nominees and judicial nominees other than to the Supreme Court. At the time of the vote there were 59 executive branch nominees and 17 judicial nominees awaiting confirmation.[SUP][59][/SUP]

Looks like 3 democrats voting that say thought well this might work against us one day, and the rest thought democrats would never have to deal with the other side in the same shoes of power.

I believed then this would come back to bite them, and then people believed it was a good thing so they could streamline appointments, well now I bet they are going to be screaming from the rooftops about it.

1) that they can craft a narrative that sells better than the one Trump spins is highly unlikely based upon their recent record of poor work and as well that they apparently have learned little from their crushing last month

2) Starting out trying to show up Trump, then getting crushed again as Trump both gets his people and moves America forwards will highlight yet again that these jokers are incompetent time wasters who should never be handed an important job, cause they just are not interested in working for America.

What jerkoff thought this would be a great plan? Looking like obstructionist morons will just make their situation worse come '18 when they have a couple dozen Senate seats to defend.

I wonder if Senate Republicans will all play ball.

If Trump can defy the naysayers and actually accomplish something good, he'll be everyone's favorite guy in 4 years. And if Senate Republicans want to stay employed, they'd be smart to be on his side.

They got crushed in a election but did not have enough sense to change leadership, you know, swap out the failed for something that might instead work.

More of the same old crappolla that got them here is the expected result.

This would be the same media that could not stop the election of Trump and which took a reputation beating for their attempt?

Maybe, but at some point they are going to decide to save themselves.

By getting back to journalism.

Getting back to journalism would be a most welcome event, but I have my doubts. I think that the liberal echo chamber will still reign supreme among them, much as it did during the Bush years.

Too bad they didn't keep it quiet as the hell no unanimous obstruction GOP did eight years ago .

False: The GOP mostly gave Obama the people he wanted without arguing about it.

Perhaps some time curling with history would do you good?

And you also seem to ignore the obstruction and exclusion of anything Republican by Harry Reid, great multiples of Republican amendments went to die in his desk, that despicable POS, excuse for a human being. How much cooperation do you get from the opening position of 'Give me what I want' ?

This tune-up of the immoral and failed elite will continue until we obtain success.

Part of that success will be once again those who call themselves journalists attempting to do journalism.

WE WILL MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Did you support the GOP concept of voting against issues they had previously supported?

Welcome to leading and having to replace after repealing !

The loss of statesmanship being replaced with partisanship in congress isn't isolated to a single party, as both are doing / have done that.

Reid was the epitome of that, with his out right lies he told from the protected floor of the Senate after hours. His justification? 'It worked' (Romney loss).

This 'the ends are justified by the means' mentality from the left will yet be the downfall of their party (in case you haven't noticed, it's well underway already now).

The loss of this mentality won't be a loss for the nation.

More "dazzle them with bull ****" propaganda. Yeah, that is gonna work. The more they do this the more they verify what the people that voted for Trump already believes.

The GOP’s strong 2016 election showing raises a crucial question: Do Republicans have any chance of netting eight Senate seats — and a filibuster-proof majority — in 2018?

The upcoming Senate class is unusually unbalanced. Only eight Republican Senate seats are up for election in 2018, compared with 25 Democratic seats (including two independents who caucus with the Democrats). Ten of those Democratic seats are in states carried by Donald Trump.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...t-to-60-seats-in-2018/?utm_term=.36a8d746fc00

But look at this statement form the article:
The sitting president’s party has gained Senate seats in only four of the past 17 midterms, and each time the gain has been minuscule — one seat in 1970, 1982 and 2002, and two seats in 1962.
What WaPo misses (maybe on purpose) is that every time they show as a gain in seats of a sitting president that president has been a Republican, except for 1962, which was Kennedy.
It would be more accurate to say that every Republican president since Nixon, except Ford and HW Bush, has seen a gain in seats in the Senate during a midterm election.
President, 1970 Nixon
President, 1982 Reagan
President 2002 Bush

False, or should I say blatant irrational lie:

Short memory on why Reid had to pull McConnell's nuclear trigger in late 2014 due to filibusters on cabinet and judicial appointees.

How many judicial appointees were approved the last two years?

Yer about to find out what leading is all about, something the GOPukes have obstructed for eight years.

Once they repeal, let's see what they replace it with .

The difference is those people that were obstructing President Obama ran on and we're voted in for that reason. The reason Republicans are in the position they are in was largely on the rejection of President Obama's policies. If the Democrats obstruct they will risk losing ground in states that flipped to Trump. It could lead to even further losses so the Democrats are in a really really bad position. This isn't counting all the lunacy from the left after the election, and a potential split among liberals over free speech. Unfortunately a single bad tweet could likely turn this all around, Trump could very well be either the best thing to happen to Democrats or a complete nightmare it's going to be an interesting 4 years.

Its going to be funny watching those the remainder of those 52 democrats who are still in office squirm when Trump gets his people in and they can't do **** about it because they gave him the ability to do that with a simple majority.

The fundamental miscalculation seems to lie in failing to understand that generally speaking, a strong majority of people (appear to?) believe that both parties are scams and that this may in fact be in part to blame for the inane ****-headery that increasingly surrounds elections in this country.

Also, there are dumbasses.

Good. At least they have a plan. I'm sure the media will play along. And, maybe, just maybe, a few Republicans will get on board too.

And I hope this is exactly what they plan to do. It'll be viewed as just more Liberal sour grapes. The Left STILL doesn't understand why the Republicans have the largest majority since 1928. :lamo

They are still banking on demographics shifting their way. You know, "Waiting for the old white men to die."

I don't think they understand that this "shift" may not go exactly as planned.

No, not really. What really happened, is that too many people felt like they got ass ****ed by the Liberals.

Joe Biden gets it...

As Democrats ponder their future, Joe Biden makes a plea for a focus on the middle class - LA Times

Yep. Somewhere along the line, the D became known as the party which no longer represents those of us who make things. They are the party of union teachers, artists, rich techies, and the unemployed. Hell, even working legal immigrants are starting to figure out the D is not for them.

About 15 years ago, a typical liberal from Savannah drove my gf and I back to Tybee Island after a night of partying. As we made our way toward the bridges and causeways, we passed an industrial area: foundries, power plants and shipping docks. Her words: "we need to get rid of this industrial crap. It ruins the beauty of this place."

That industrial crap powered that region. Those factories provided thousands of jobs, the only island jobs available that were not service or tourist related. She didn't get it. Hence, why I call her a typical liberal.

What they don't understand, is that no one has ever willingly voted for communism.
