Oklahoma to require restroom signs in anti-abortion effort

"Under the law, the signs would state: "There are many public and private agencies willing and able to help you carry your child to term and assist you and your child after your child is born, whether you choose to keep your child or to place him or her for adoption. The State of Oklahoma strongly urges you to contact them if you are pregnant." The signs would also include a link to the Health Department's website."

 Why that's just downright EVIL!!!!! How dare they link people to the Health Dept.....tsk, tsk.....

Eh, when I hear that I immediately start to wonder.

We've got an entire human services department in my state that doesn't know what they provide or how to provide it, but when called to testify will attest to the bountiful public services and detailed intake process, thereby nullifying the need to listen to folks advocating an expansion or overhaul of said agency.

You mean like hearing the heartbeat.....oh how evil.....

Like politicians getting in between a doctor and the patient- E-Vile when it suits the rabid right.... requiring un-needed procedures- intra vaginal ultrasounds, sonograms, taking those home for several days BEFORE yet another office visit (and cost).

Imagine a man being required to prove by electro-mechanical procedures he was impotent BEFORE getting a script for Viagra...

Our state is having a record budget shortfall, millions slashed from every agency from STATE VA, education, infrastructure, law enforcement, eldercare, fire departments.... but hey let's spend like drunken sailors fighting ignorant battles in courts no one really thinks the SoCons will win... :doh

But on the plus side our State Supreme Court struck down the Okie law requiring doctors to have admitting privileges in local hospitals before operating a LEGAL abortion clinic. Our lawmakers keep wasting time and tax payer money, our STATE courts keep cancelling such ignorance, still it keeps the drain from a shrinking STATE budget flowing for losing legal battles... :peace

But if you were pregnant and feeling a little desperate about it, it might hold your interest more.

If Captain Adverse were pregnant I am sure it would hold EVERYONE'S interest.

It sounds as if it's costing businesses and other entities money to post the signs.

20 bucks for every women's restroom isn't a huge expense. It cost me more than that in "No Parking" signs for my neighbors on my property. I have 180.00 worth of signs on a 50 foot easement.

"Put the kid up for adoption, we'll take care of it, and we'll pay your hospital delivery bill too!" is about the only sign i'd be willing to get behind or pay any attention to. Something that would make the fundies begin to own up to what they're demanding

Party of small government strikes again

Great so you pay for it for those businesses. Anything else is theft and even then it's defacing their property

Wait!! Nursing homes? Yes, because the people of Oklahoma don't want 90 year old grandmothers getting abortions either, after they get knocked up.

Stupid is as stupid does. Oklahoma now takes over first place from Kansas as the most moronic state in the Union.

I mean of all the "anti-abortion" efforts out there, this one certainly seems the least offensive.

"There are many public and private agencies willing and able to help you carry your child to term and assist you and your child after your child is born, whether you choose to keep your child or to place him or her for adoption. The State of Oklahoma strongly urges you to contact them if you are pregnant." The signs would also include a link to the Health Department's website.

I mean, is it a waste of time and effort? I'd say likely yes. But it's a sign and it tells of various agencies for assistance, so whatever. I'm not going to lose sleep over this one. There isn't a law restricting abortion.

On the surface it doesn't seem that intrusive into our lives. But it will only time before MADD (mothers against drunk driving) want a sign up , then the American Diabetic Association, and the American Heart Association want their warning signs.

Americans have to be some of the dumbest Cro-Magnons walking around. We are constantly being preached and warned about everything.

Do they require signs telling pregnant women not to ingest alcohol or smoke? If not, then this is about CONTROL freakism, not about what they feel best for the unborn.

It's also a violation of the first amendment, IMO and I hope it's struck down.
