Texas rep laments not being allowed to cook ribs on his Capitol balcony

**** no, I grill all the time, and never are they beef. Only pork.
:doh No... just no
Hey, don't do this!

I just graciously (and I'd also like to think magnanimously) conceded to them - without even as much as a quick Google! :doh

This is a debating site! I may have just ruined my rep!

Seriously? How self centered can one idiot be?

Gohmert recalled that “most of the networks” wanted to run stories about his tradition of cooking ribs for his colleagues once a quarter.

So cooking ribs for his colleagues once a quarter is self-centered in your world?

If Obama eats ribs in the White House why can't a Texan grille anywhere he/she wants?

Oh. My. God.

"So and so said I cant cook ribs! Im gonna use my government duty by bitching about it on the congress floor because I wanna cook yummy ribs for my congress colleagues"

Jesus christ... Go to a ****ing park and cook ribs.

Wouldn't "Texas Ribs" imply beef ribs?

Just my guess ...

Pork ribs are easier for a novice to grill. Beef ribs tend to be tougher to make tender. (say that three times real fast) Pork ribs are easier to make tender. It's a temperature thing with beef, like brisket. Beef ribs also need a little more prep than pork ribs. I am still trying to perfect my beef ribs. This gives me an idea. I might smoke a big brisket for the family Christmas dinner.

Now he knows what every apartment dweller in TX has known for years.

There is a secret to ribs. I smoked steaks last night. They were good. Maybe if he got a pellet smoker, zero chance of a fire. I should shoot him an email. You might have helped in solving his problem.
Which cut of steak is lowly enough for the smoker?

Rib eyes and NY strips. I cold smoke them for about an hour then BBQ them at the highest heat that I can get.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the biggest idiot in Congress.

That IS idiotic. During Hurricane Ike, one of my neighbors, whose apartment was an upstairs one, decided to barbecue on his balcony. A gust of wind picked it up and deposited it on the roof, just above his apartment. The roof caught on fire, and it looked bad until torrential rain from one of the rain bands put it out. I never believed in my life that anybody could be so freakin' stupid. Maybe he should run for office.

It is when you demand to do it in a way that could burn the building down and kill people simply because you're lazy.

Was the architect taking a political jab at him or was it legit, or laziness on the architect's part to not really look into it and simply deny?

Laziness? What laziness?

Fire codes aren't changed to accommodate the whims of politicians.

solution: cook them in front or behind the capitol

Aren't there right wingers that are against fire and safety codes? They feel that government has no place regulating private business fire and safety standards.
