Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) is under consideration to serve as the secretary of Veterans Affairs in Donald Trump's administration, ABC News reported Wednesday.
A Palin aide told ABC News that Palin told Trump transition officials in recent days that she feels "as though the megaphone I have been provided can be used in a productive and positive way to help those desperately in need."

I can see some folks getting all wrapped around the axle with this one. But what to do we have to lose? The Obama Administration has screwed the pooch so it can't get any worse. Why not?

People who think it can't get worse lack both imagination and a knowledge of history. It can always get worse.

That sounds like a dare...

It sounds real sorry when Palin would be an improvement. I actually think she might do some good. Surely can't do any worse.

That is never true.

And since we're in such a bad place right now, it might be a good idea to appoint someone who can actually help.

Well, yeah, it can get worse but right now it is on auto pilot. Nobody is doing anything substantial to improve the situation.

Not just no, but hell no. IMHO.

I can think of better people. Something needs to be done. I had a VA Health Care card. I burned it in the wood stove.

Until federal government employment laws and regulations are changed so that they no longer protect bad employees from being fired or even disciplined, then no one will be able to actually help. We have to untie the hands of the administrators so that they can actually do something and effect real change.

Until then, I'll keep paying for my private doctors and additional insurance.

I used to be a Vice President of a Federal Employees local. Federal employees can be fired IF their boss does proper documentation and counseling. When I was brought into a situation it was hard to figure out who was the most screwed up, the employee or the supervisor. About half of the time the employee deserved to be terminated but the supervisor failed to do their job in documenting the failings of the employee. The other half of the time was a supervisor overstepping their authority and trying to force the employee to do something outside of the scope of statutes or the employee's responsibility. There were times where both the employee and the supervisor should have been fired. It starts from the top and runs down. If the top sucks the bottom is going to suck.

You might be right for real change. It's not an issue I on which I have an overwhelming amount of knowledge.

But I have think there have to be people who can make at least incrementally beneficial changes under our current system and that Palin isn't one of them.

yeah, but they would have to work at it.

True...but putting Palin in charge of anything surely seems like they're working at it, lol.

Why not?
Maybe because she is an Idiot, yes that why not.

Compared to the idiots we have for the last fifteen years? It's hard to rate idiots against other idiots.

Golly, really? That's fascinating. What good to you think she would do? Please be very, very specific.

AS long as she brings her own pole and G-string; why not.

With so much to legitimately criticize, why did you stoop to this?
