President Barack Obama’s approval rating is at a seven-year high, according to a CNN/ORC national poll released Wednesday.
Obama enjoys a post-election approval rating of 57 percent, his highest mark since September 2009, when his approval rating sat at 58 percent.

The president also has a favorability rating of almost 60 percent, his highest since October 2009. Obama has a net favorability of +21 percent (59 percent favorable, 38 percent unfavorable), far outpacing Americans’ views of the Democratic (-15 percent) and Republican (-11 percent) parties.

Im pretty sure Obama is going to be treated pretty damn kindly in the history books. Leaving with an approval rating of almost 60% is damn good.

Nothing like a nasty election between to extremely flawed candidates to build the romance for the guy that is still in office. If an Obama 3rd term was on the ballot, it would have won in a landslide.

Yes, history will likely treat Obama well.

He(Obama) said his policies and legacy were at stake in this election. He might be popular, but his policies aren't.

many polling bureaus and statisticians

mmmmm.... sure. Many, many polling bureaus (unnamed) and statisticians, no doubt working for the fake news agencies we've been talking about on another thread.

Sure they do.

Sure.

OK, back on topic then: Which modern presidents have left office with anything close to a 60% approval rating?

I know some people in military installations planning to make a little party out of the changing of the portraits in the office lobbies.

Going sentimental, in fact.

Who in modern history left office with anything approaching a 60% approval rating?

Bush?

Well, not exactly:

Bush's Final Approval Rating: 22 Percent

So, 78% of voters couldn't stand Bush. That explains how Obama was elected to begin with.

ud think after 8 years Obama hussien, best friend of the muslim brotherhood, would have less that 40% of the country not liking him. oh well. good news for america, hes outta here in 2 months.

Are these the same pollsters who predicted a Hillary landslide?
Why yes. Why yes I believe they are.

So funny to see people falling for the same old shtick over and over again.

Lol... what??????

What failure do you think the polling had? They don't know who will actually end up voting, it's a sampling issue. When they came out and told people "Hillary is a sure thing," that kept democrats at home.

You'd think, with the sort of nonsense being spread you have just stated, Obama would have been sent packing back in '12. Maybe people aren't as gullible as the Obama's a Muslim Kenyan terrorist and the AntiChrist people would have us believe.

Who on modern history left office with a 60% approval rating?

Wouldn't it be more useful to know where in the country the approval of Obama is? It might even be more useful to have data looking at the location of his approval over the course of his term to see how it changed as time went on. If I had to guess I would say most of his support is based around major cities, while very little is found anywhere else.

If that's what you want to hang the loss on, fine.

All through the general, all you ever heard from every media outlet, every poll and pollster, was Hillary in a landslide, and then it didn't happen.

Is it really that much of a stretch to imagine the same inaccurate, agenda driven push polling is occurring in this one?
Seems pretty reasonable to me.
