Judge Orders IRS To Stop Targeting Tea Party Groups

Washington Times isn't good enough? It IS a liberal news site after all.

Are you sure you're not confusing this with the Washington Post? Have you looked at the Washington Times?

Yep. I stopped reading them though when they were so obviously in the tank for Obama during his elections that it was pathetic.

Well, if you want a publication that's obviously in the tank for Trump, then you're gonna love their editorial section.

I googled "judge irs stop targeting tea party" and got all crap sites in response.

Is there a source you wont attack ?

The ones that say things he agrees with . Everything libbos don't agree with is a lie.

You have over 21k posts. You know what an acceptable news source is.

You are doing the same thing apdst was doing in the other thread. I do find it curious that left leaning media isn't covering this. (not really, just being sarcastic)

What apdst did in that thread (at least at the start) wasn't actually wrong.

Denial is a very powerful aphrodisiac. Libbos are addicted.

I would like to see criminal action taken to be honest. This has been going on for some time now and congress already told them quite a while ago now to stop. The fact that they ignored congress and had to have a judge tell them to stop is more than a enough reason for me to believe more action is needed. At this point it is obvious that a message needs to be sent to the IRS that they won't soon forget.

501(c)(4) social welfare tax exempt status should never apply to a political organization. Tea party organizations are political. The fact that tea party organizations are scrutinized when they apply is because they have to demonstrate how they are primarily concerned with social welfare, that they are not primarily political in nature. The bias that could result is if corresponding liberal groups were not given the same scrutiny.

Old story from May 2013 but it has the IRS admitting to wrong doing.

IRS apologizes for targeting conservative groups

IRS apologizes for targeting conservative groups

Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS unit that oversees tax-exempt groups, said organizations that included the words "tea party" or "patriot" in their applications for tax-exempt status were singled out for additional reviews. Her remarks, which came at an American Bar Association gathering, were first reported by the Associated Press.

White House spokesman Jay Carney on Friday afternoon called the IRS action "inappropriate" and said the Obama administration supports a full investigation, suggesting the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration would have jurisdiction.

IRS releases list of 426 groups targeted for increased scrutiny | TheHill

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has released a lengthy list of organizations it snagged for review three years after it became embroiled in a controversy over targeting tax-exempt conservative groups for increased scrutiny.

The IRS filed the list of 426 groups last month as part of a class action lawsuit. The names of another 40 to 45 groups that met the agency's criteria for extra scrutiny and delays were not released since they opted out of inclusion in the lawsuit.

Sixty of the groups have the word "tea" in their name, 33 have "patriot" and 26 refer to "liberty," while others appear to trend liberal, with three having "occupy" in their name, according to The Washington Times, which first reported the list.

Is the tea party even a thing any more?

Apparently its enough of a " thing " to warrant illegal illegal targeting of Tea party groups by the IRS.
