Hillary campaigns at early voting location — in violation of NC law? [W:280]

You find signs intimidating and want a safe space.

No, I'm not bothered as much by the signs as I am running the gauntlet at the door. More annoyed than intimidated.

Yes, i don't agree with just making the law ridiculously strict. But i think we should do a little more diligence.

And i think we can allow law-abiding citizens to have an easier time buying guns in the process. One time background check at the DMV, new drivers license or ID card with 'Gun Eligible' stamp, private sales are expected to check for an ID with the stamp. No more $25 background check for each new gun, but private sellers cannot plead ignorance.

Doesn't seem too unreasonable to me; but i'll admit the logistics could get pretty muddy.

I disagree with that.... it isn't the DMV's job to track gun purchase eligibility, they already fail so bad in most states at their primary job as it is.

I agree with the sentiment though.... streamlining the process while also making sure the proper checks and balances are being conducted is ideal.

That's a good point, but i think in many states they're also the place where you would get a state issued ID card even if you're not a licensed driver.

In CO, we have two DMVs: one for drivers licenses/IDs (where the wait times are horrendous), and another for vehicle registration (where the service is actually really good). I thought it was kinda crazy, but i really like bypassing the cluster when i have to register anything.

I could see how it could work..... and it would be much simpler to give notice to DMV that someone's eligibility should be denied revoked in the case of a felony conviction, domestic violence case that requires temporary denial of 2nd amendment rights, or some form of official Court sanctioned adjudication of mental incompetence. It would be no different than the courts giving notice of the revocation of a citizens driving privilege.

Of course, State DMVs could report this firearm right revocation information to the ATF so one would be in the national "Do Not Sell/Approve" registry.

I could dig it I guess, granted DMV was competent enough not to **** it up like they did for a poor dude I arrested for DWI once. The guy submitted to breath test and blew over legal limit (well over), and I completed my paperwork and at no time anywhere on my affidavit was it indicated that he REFUSED to submit... yet DMV thought he did and he had his license suspended for a year. His lawyer, naturally, appealed for a hearing and I was more than happy to take the free time from my day off to go down and sort that **** out.
