Julian Assange Investigated for Online Grooming of 8-year-old Girl

Liberals loved Assange when he was making Bush look bad.

Now that the shoe is on the other foot, he's apparently a child molester.

Yeah, there is no shortage of hypocrisy to go around.

Well, considering he is holed up in his room 24/7 with nothing but a computer and internet connection, maybe the 8-year old was looking pretty good.

The DailyKos has suddenly published a story saying that Julian Assange is under investigation for online solicitation of sex from an 8-year-old girl:

So it's now suddenly being claimed that Julian Assange is a child-molester.

(Oh, thank goodness - I was beginning to think that the allegations of Donald Trump being a child-molester were a peculiarly vicious kind of character assassination against him - it's good to know that child-molestation allegations against people are actually routine, frequent, and par for the course. Nothing to see here - these are not the molesters you are looking for - move along.)

However, this child-molestation allegation may be a pretext for legally denying him the right to access the internet. After all, you wouldn't want a predator to be using internet to stalk little kids online, now would you? Would you?

Thank God they found this out - just at the same time he was releasing damaging emails on Clinton just before the election.

If I had to guess, I'd say someone is falling for an Onion type report here. I don't see a single credible new site touching this.

So this girl was logged in under the account of her 22 year old sister and Assange had chat sex with someone he thought was an adult? That's a crime? He's been holed up in the embassy for years, so a bit of internet sex chats with who he thinks is an adult isn't child molestation.

If any of this accusation is even remotely true, that would be exonerating for sure.

All I can find in the real press is that Assange had his internet cut off for meddling in the US election, which is a violation of his asylum agreement, apparently.

So when you chat with someone on line you cannot tell if they are 8 or 22? Really?

I've met 22 year olds that write like elementary school kids. Especially in these forums.

On that I cannot disagree, but if you are having a sex chat I get the feeling you might notice that your "partner" does not know much about the topic at hand, so to speak. Then again the creep is on the run for good reasons, it is called rape.

Those complaints arise from him having consensual sex and not using a condom, which doesn't amount to rape charges. And those charges, as he knows, are a proxy to get hold of him to send him to the US.

And if a girl online claims to be 22, it doesn't matter what she says afterwards, there's not even a shred of probable cause to indict someone. Further, if the Ecuadoran gov't wanted a legit reason to cut off his internet besides admitting it was a deal with Clinton, then they'd have to find something nefarious to justify themselves.

He is wanted in Sweden on rape charges, not the US.

So you can be fooled by an 8 year old, not sure I would admit that.

There is no conspiracy to fulfill an extradition request that has never been made. What Assange is alleged to have done is a criminal act in Sweden. The women agreed to have sex with him on the condition that he use a condom. He forcibly prevented them from trying to retrieve said condom and penetrated them against their wishes. That is a crime in Sweden - and one that the women agreed not to report if he would just go to a doctor and confirm that he didn't expose them to a sexually transmitted disease. Which he refused to do.

What a high crime.

What a high crime.

Indeed. Causing an international incident, costing countless taxpayer dollars in 2 nations, and condemning himself to 8 years trapped in an Ecuadorian embassy all because he couldn't keep his fly zipped.

How do you feel about Snowden? That guy caused me a HEAP of trouble overseas. In a tertiary way. Not because he wanted to or knew anything about it. But as much trouble as I caught over the week Snowden fled, I still like the guy.

I think Snowden was well-intentioned, but he got some bad advice and wound up crawling into bed with the wrong people.

We don't know his guilt or innocence.

But the timing is suspicious. He was just about to release a bunch of documents about the U.S. election and then his internet got cut. Ecuador admitted initially that it was because they did not want him interfering with the U.S. election. Now they're claiming it's because of child molestation. Which is it?

The thing about accusing someone of being a sex offender is that in that case there's no way to prove it, but even the allegations look bad. Assange is in such a position that if his credibility is sufficiently ruined then no country will protect him, and then the U.S. will get their claws on him.

It was just posted today that due to the sanctions against Assange he has authorized the leak of his emergency contingency file, an 80GB package containing some of the worst leaks about world governments. It might just be all talk but if not I am VERY interested to find out what's in those files!!

The US People need to know what their corrupt government is up to. And if it takes an Aussie holed up in an Ecuadoran embassy to expose them, I'm great with it. Give us the goods, man. Keep it coming.

He probably can't upload anything if he is in an internetless embassy. And if he steps outside to find a Internet cafe, bye bye diplomatic immunity.

If you look at all the documents that WikiLeaks has posted, the number of high level and powerful people he's posted their emails and docs, it's certainly not hard to imagine that Obama sent Kerry to lean on the Ecuadoran ambassador to cut his Internet off.

That said, I don't think it really doesn't matters, as from Assange's tweets, it seems he's installed a dead man switch on his site, which will probably continue publishing stuff automatically on it's own.

I think you're underestimating the abilities of a master hacker.

Can a hacker hack if he is without internet connection?

Besides I consider him more of hack.

That embassy has internet. I promise you they didn't kill all internet access to the Ecuadoran embassy. He can get in if he wants. It make take him a bit, but he'll get in if there's access.

Then I pray for a power outage or someone to hack him.
