Donald Trump's $25,000 Pam Bondi problem

On Sept. 17, three days after a spokesman for Bondi told the Orlando Sentinel that her office was, indeed, considering joining the Trump U. investigation, a $25,000 check was cut by Trump's foundation and sent to a committee associated with Bondi's campaign. And after the check arrived, Bondi's office decide not to pursue a case against Trump U., saying there were insufficient grounds to join the New York state probe.

$25,000 Trump check arrives ... investigation of Trump U is nixed.

Pay to play? According to Trump, he would indeed pad the campaign pockets of a politician to obtain a Trump-positive outcome.

Donald J. Trump said:
"I've got to give to them, because when I want something, I get it," he said. "When I call, they kiss my ass."

Lots of corruption in government.

He wasn't in government. He got his money's worth on the bribe. I don't see the problem.

Of course Trump is pay-to-play, so is Clinton. Peas in a pod, those two.

You don't see a problem with bribing government to avoid prosecution/investigation?

I keep hearing this and think, how does this even compare to what Hillary has done?

crooked donald!!!!!!

As the Clinton campaign shakes the shinny object to attract the press.
Clinton is sinking in the polls, the continued drip, drip ,drip from the e-mail scandal.
Clinton's health is being called into question. More issues with the Clinton Foundation.
Crooked Hillary trust worth numbers are going lower. No formal press conference in 200 + days.

The Clinton campaign says... please ignore all of this! It's nothing! really believe us.
Remember Crooked Hillary will be the first women president. How grand!
But look at what The Donald did... It's really bad stuff! Hilarious!

No one really likes that these sort of shenanigans that are going on among people of political or business power (or both.) The problem comes down to when we say that one person is at fault for behavior that we excuse in another, then the conversation dives into partisan foolishness.

Personally, I am usually disappointed in the continued "pay to play" goings on across the board. But perhaps I have become desensitized about it as at this point we would all be hard pressed to find examples of those in power not engaging in some form of pay to play. Sad, but true.

Hillary has just been on the other side of this style equation. I mean, if you want to say that Trump and Hillary aren't really all that different, that's true and fine. But deflecting to "Hillary does it" is not really justification particularly because Trumpettes keep yelling about how she's crooked and can't be trusted. Which is true, but Trump has been the other side of the coin in the same game. One donates, the other collects.

I was looking more at the national security angle. Hillary has put this country at great risk...no doubt.

Do you give Clinton as much latitude, be fair with those free passes, or our they all reserved for future Trump revelations?

No not the same. Trump made the payments. Clinton received them.

Corruption is just that, Trump perverted the course of justice, if the report is true.

So Clinton got to make money while Trump had to lose it, and just to avoid a gigantic lawsuit? Clinton sounds like the much smarter businesswoman in this equation. If you like smart business people, support Clinton.

I think it is a problem for government to receive a bribe. The businessman was just doing what he could. The bribe should have been returned.

The businessman is immoral in this case. Sure, took advantage of "what he could", but that's not necessarily a positive quality. If you're willing to lie and cheat to "do what you could", it's not saying anything nice. Just as guilty as the government that took the bribe.

Certainly suspicious and worth an investigation of Bondi.

Sure, Clinton can bribe anyone she wants in my view. It happens constantly in government. The problem lies in receiving a bribe, not paying one.

So she made money. Smart lady, and obviously someone you should want for President.

Not in the eyes of the law. Your interpretation is as perverted as Roger Ailes in a room full of female newscasters.

What exactly has Hillary (allegedly) done and how does that compare? Donate to help people with HIV/AIDS and get a luncheon with the SOS vs donate to the Trump Foundation so he can bribe an AG to keep him out of a courtroom?

According to Trump, bribes of that sort are just business as usual, that's how the game is played. But, you see, he's going to fix it all as soon as he's elected.

Well, maybe in the second hour he'll fix the atmosphere of bribery. The first hour, he's going to deport all of those felons that Obama let out of prison because they were illegal aliens, all two million of them. He knows them personally, so he can do it.
