The U.S. and China will formally join the United Nations global warming agreement while President Barack Obama makes his final trip to Asia for the G20 meeting in September, sources tell the South China Morning Post.

The best part is where the agreement is that US will cut emissions, and China agrees to keep increasing them.

Obama’s pledged to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions 26 to 28 percent by 2025. He made the pledge to get China to sign onto the agreement, and to show the U.S. was serious about tackling global warming.

China, however, made a more ambivalent promise of peaking emissions by 2030, and has already said it would use more coal in the coming years to meet projected energy demand.

But really, no one is surprised. Obama has a pen and a phone and will happily take advantage of the Trump distraction to commit the US to his agenda regardless of checks and balances. Good news though, he'll be gone in 4 months.

How is that even possible? he can't act without the senate.

Do you have a link for the lifestyle cuts it will take to reduce climate gas emissions by 28 percent in 8 years?

Anything is possible for him to do really. If it is legal on the other hand is another matter entirely. Of course, over the course of his time in office Obama has proven he doesn't give two ****s about what is legal for him to do.

That is the problem. He has established more precedents for unconstitutional action, which is now partially spread to the judiciary and taken firm grip of the liberal movement's mind to become a preferred instrument for policy.

My take-a-way is that Obama is pretty confident in a Clinton victory. Otherwise, he probably wouldn't have put himself into a position of having this action immediately undone(and it would be IMMEDIATELY undone) by a President Trump.

Symbolic gesture aimed at galvanizing the base. Real world impact? Zero.

Your confusion stems from per-capita differences.

There wouldn't be anything to undo. Without ratification by the senate, it's no more than a collector's item. Obama couldn't legally inact any of the stipulations of the treaty.
