‘I lost. The ni**er won’: Alabama GOP mayor gets racist on Facebook.

She's supposedly a Christian too. What an ugly shame. I think this quote is appropriate for women as well:

"Of all bad men, religious bad men are the worst" - C.S. Lewis

Alabama. The sweaty testicle of America.

The local GOP machine failed to motivate the white vote. Summer time is hot down there, people get lazy, loose with words too.

No, it's much more simple than that. She's a racist sack of ****.

Don't over-complicate things and make excuses.

the truth is racist, enjoy your new mayor, new detroit :lamo

Why are you demonizing ..."the 50's" ? Explain.

That was a time where discrimination against African-Americans was rampant, and racial segregation was implemented.

So it's not hard to see why I said what I said. The 50's weren't all petals and rose gardlens.

Maybe for you, but for black people? Hell no.

What? impossible!!!. according to SOME (a few nutters) racism isnt a real problem any more. Doesnt really exist. lol

Anyway, WOW, is all I can say. Ive seen so much of it and been subject of so much of it racism doesnt really shock me in general but the pure confidence that people show in their actions sometimes does along with the total disregard for right and wrong. For a mayor to supposedly do this on her facebook account is straight bonkers. But it also goes to show IMO how confident and comfortable she felt to do so, either by her own ignorant short comings or by what she felt her audience would be ok with . . probably both. SMH

You had relatives alive in the '50's were they evil white people ?

Spot on!
those times were much worse regarding race and actions like this were way more accepted.

Uh.....are you seriously claiming that this place in Alabama is going to be a "new Detroit" because there's a African American mayor?

the fifties are calling, they want their mayor back

A Southern GOP racist? I thought racists from the South had all moved North and become Democrats in the 60s.

In some backwater town of 2,500 people in rural Alabama someone used a racial slur....and it's newsworthy:doh

Folks, if you've got to dig that deep to find a flaw in society you might just be more focused on perpetuating racism than in overcoming it.

No, they weren't "evil". I think the better word to use is ignorant.

But were they racist? You betcha.

I'm white. I grew up in the 50s in Texas, raised by my grandparents. My grandfather was as racists as a person could be. Archie Bunker was pale in comparison. Was he evil? That depends on the circumstances. Sometimes, yes, he was. We had a lot of neighbors who subscribed to his beliefs. My grandmother, on the other hand, wasn't racist and probably was the only influence in my grandfather's life that kept him from acting out in ways that he often spoke about. Most of those things he talked about would be criminal offenses, prison time. Most of my relatives were from East Texas where bad things really happened to persons of color. In fact, at family reunion time, the stories around the table would make my hair stand up.

If you're from that era, I'm surprised you're asking Gov the questions that you have. You know what she said is relevantly true.

There is a town in Texas where blacks weren't allowed to be "in town" after dark. And I'm talking about in 1975. The County buildings, including the courthouse in that town, still had "whites only" over bathroom doors and water fountains (located in the basement). I saw them with my own eyes. About a year later the Feds shut those buildings down until they were open for all persons, regardless of color. And the County Clerk and other officials' heads rolled. Some when to jail.

i think it's newsworthy when they're drawing from public coffers, because it reflects on the whole town. If they can't find a non racist to run their town, then don't elect a mayor, or be prepared for criticism

So the chick's racist. That happens and, frankly, you'll always find a racist somewhere if you look hard enough. It's not, however, an indictment of everyone in the town, the GOP, Christians or anyone other than the chick in question.

The people that want to eradicate racism are doomed to failure. It's just not going to happen. They can't control it no matter what they do. Their best option is to make racism irrelevant by not becoming victimized by it.

This agree with wholeheartedly because its true.

As far as this being news worthy? of course it is but only because its an elected mayor . . that makes it news worthy. It wasnt Blanche at the local hair salon it was the former mayor.

Lastly anybody that wants to eradicate racism, well I agree, that isnt going to happen in our life times or even the next 5 generations and probably never will.

Alabama. The sweaty testicle of America.
That directed at Alabama? The entire state, all its people? Remind me of the definition of bigot again? Just wondering, how close does one have to get before you can smell bigot? Its rhetorical, btw... at the same time, I can already smell the smarm on its way.

As to the OP, yes, this specific individual, if this is true, has got real deep problems. But as a liberal might say, "check your bias, dude..." or some other such nonsense.

Maybe you should spend your efforts pointing out the racism of Hillary Clinton and not on some woman that lost.

Didn't you get the memo?
I'm not required to do what you tell me what to do.
Don't like it,there's the door.
