Five officers then opened fire. "The officers were in fear of their lives and did what they had to do," Chitwood said. "He threatened to kill police, threatened to kill FBI agents."

A 52-year-old Delaware County man who had posted rambling rants and violent threats against police was shot and killed by officers Tuesday as they tried to arrest him in Drexel Hill. When officers from three departments confronted and ordered him to get out of his car, he instead gunned his Nissan sedan into reverse and struck a police vehicle, according to Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.....snip~

Do you think anyone can say it was to much? Excessive force? This was really spiking on the trend until they found about the perp. What say ye?

I think we all need to know the race/ethnicity of everyone involved before we can comment. ;)

Guy obviously suffers from some kind of schizophrenia, perhaps not making his delusions a reality would have not put cops in jeopardy and a have not lead to this mans death.

This could have been handled better, imo.

I get that he was a threat, but the mental illness should have played a little part in thier planning.
