[h=1]‘Redacted’ version of The Interview not enough for North Korea[/h]
The version of The Interview, which depicts a fictional assassination attempt against leader Kim Jong-un, that has been released to 331 American cinemas has been heavily censored, losing up to 10 minutes of footage.
Sony staff refer to it as the “redacted version” and hope the sequences erased on the orders of Sony’s Tokyo head office may be restored for a “director’s cut” on DVD, although that may never be released legally in Asia.

Notice the last threats of releases we've heard about was what, a few days before christmas. a hole hullabaloo, and now the release, and pretty much silence?

Any of you find that a little bit suspicious?

a few of my friends watched it and its a horrible boring movie from what I understand, so now I no longer care.

We have real problems.

Suspicious ? YEP !

Some security analysts suggest an inside job... not NK.

Me ? I'm still holding out for the discovery that it was an Ad Man's wet dream of perfection in marketing..

I'm looking for that tin hat I have buried here somewhere.

Inspired fear and panic continues unabated ... the prez. looks calm, cool, collected, and stoic against extreme adversity.

Sony and an Ad Man make decent money...

and the humor continues.

I think the whole thing was a publicity stunt for what was going to be a wretched movie anyway. The Franco/Rogen team only fits a certain type of moviegoer, and they maybe are starting to realize this. Personally, I have never been a fan of either of them, even back in their Freaks and Geeks days.

I will say this - I was wondering this morning if this particular movie might cause a shift in the way brand new movies are released. I'd love to see brand new movies released online. I don't know how much The Interview charged for online streaming, but I'd gladly pay $19.99 to stream a brand new movie. Still cheaper than going to the movies. If my two daughters and I go to a matinee showing of a movie, and get popcorn to split, and 2 sodas to split, we are still paying $40.

The guy from wired? I said the same thing a while ago.

Open source malware is not evidence of origin of an attack.

None of the IP's were in N. Korea

And the IP's they claimed were involved in past attacks was from what I am understanding class B 255.255.0.0 hardly that accurate a claim.

They're claiming they had nothing to do with it but, used the occasion to throw out some of their usual rhetoric.

Should have known it was a stinker going in. The first clue - starring Rogan and Franco.

I don't know about any guy from wired ???? I just watched how that info was fed to the public, the timing, and reactions by all celebs involved..

And started thinking how beautiful the roll out was for a lackluster production. I mentioned it here at DP about a week ago .. then icing on my suspicious cake was the security analysts suggesting the crisis may be a little odiferous.

the humor of life, marketing, with politics as a bonus keeps me chuckling.

Great day to ya' RH

Are you asking why N. Korea hasn't nuked us yet? They can't.

Look up n korea hack wired. I cant right now or i would for you.

Dood said what i said word for word.

We have real problems.

Allowing a far away dictator to censor free expression is a real problem.

What's more pathetic about this, that it was likely an inside job and everyone from sony to the fbi/white house falsely accused north korea, or that audiences flooded the theaters to "support free speech" of a REDACTED version meant to appease north korea?

Given the extreme lack of R rated films anymore, i'd say it's hollywood that's guilty of censorship in general far more than the hackers of this one crap movie

Last I heard, a language translator identified the wording to be more typical for a russian speaker.

Which is why the whole internet attack farce was created in the first place, to have an excuse to go direct to PPV.

The North Koreans cannot conceive a comedy film, all they have ever seen in film and on what TV they have has been military propaganda. the do not and cannot make a distinction between a private film and government policy. To them, this is a provocation, a US threat to assassinate "dear leader"

Also you have to realize "Dear Leader" leads nothing. He is a puppet of the military comintang, allowed certain freedoms of whim, but a figurehead without real power.

Looked it up ... I might visit that site from time to time.... Checked the date on the article.. roughly the same time I started adding things up to a questionable sum...

They look deep enough an inside job will be found, give it time ... Ad Men like to boast.

The article does, for certain, verify a higher truth... that being:

Of all persons on the DP Forum, two of us, you and me above all others, possess a rare and extraordinary ESP connection to Universal and everlasting truth of the ages that allows us to see through the darkness of bull manure.

:lamo

Actually, it's a little reassuring for me to see I'm not alone in what I see as reasonable suspicion.

May as well be laughing with them.

His "freedoms of whim" include executing family members and their families.

Stranglely they stopped threatening us and havent released any more information. Odd no?

They called Obama a monkey and threatened reprisals for the release when Sony announced it. The fact that they could do nothing is not suspicious to me. You didn't know their threats are empty?

It's astounding what people will believe without question. opensource malware, random ip's, and now even the origional note has fake "kongrish" demanding a ransom. Only later did it morph into a threat from the NORKS...

"We’ve got great damage by Sony Pictures.
The compensation for it, monetary compensation we want.
Pay the damage, or Sony Pictures will be bombarded as a whole.
You know us very well. We never wait long.
You’d better behave wisely.
From God’sApstls"

note the fake bad english, not how this went from blackmail to international incident.

hmmmmm./

With the FBI being very closed about the situation ( possibly, rightfully so ) we may or may not learn the answer; hell, it could be some kid sitting in a bedroom in Templeton Iowa sipping too much of that bootleg Rye Whiskey that's made there.

Just for the fun of it, I'll stay with an inside job by an ambitious marketing genius.

Great day to ya' RH
