This don't make sense. The FBI releases a report of a threat by ISIS to a specific target in the US. Yet at the same time they are going to say the threat is anonymous and unsubstantiated. Yet local Authorities are on Alert. What say ye?


The FBI has warned local authorities of a threat that Islamic State militants would blow up the Memphis & Arkansas Bridge spanning the Mississippi River, an agency spokesman said on Tuesday.

"This is an unsubstantiated, anonymous threat," he said, adding that there was no useful intelligence arising from it.

The television station quoted the FBI warning as saying that according to an anonymous tipster, Islamic State had instructed a person in Memphis "to blow up the Memphis-Arkansas bridge on an unknown date, activating ISIS terror cells in the United States.".....snip~

I remember a bridge collapse a few year back that reminded me of what this could cause.

If you call in an anonymous report that I am going tho throw a water balloon at Jon Stewart, you have a specific target that is both anonymous and unsubstantiated. Whether or not the police then have Jon wear a raincoat just in case is a matter of discretion.

It appears to be taken serious enough to alert local authorities and have them get people out there. What also was interesting to Note, was the mention of Activating up Sleeper Cells here in the US.

If they have a threat and don't take it seriously and something happens, it is a political nightmare like when the FBI did nothing to stop the Boston Bombers despite having been warned about the older brother by Russia.
 
I've given up on understanding government warnings on specific targets based on "anonymous and unsubstantiated" sources. Seems like a ploy to suggest one target, while really going after something else.

Well when they raise the threat level all the way around.....most don't pay attention anyways. But this is the first I heard of going into the South and into the Heartland and not being any Major City.

Wonder if they will start talking like North Korea does and how they will hit our infrastructure.

It would make sense if they did, some of our strikes against ISIS are all about their infrastructure and energy sources.

Translation: "We received this "call". "We think its a crank and not serious, but better safe than sorry, so keep your eyes open... maybe run a couple of patrol cars by here a few times a day, but don't lose sleep over it"

Well, Right now they are feeling their Wheaties. As they did take a hit over the weekend. But then, they do find a way to open another front. It appears they are working on starting up in Jordan.

Now after our troops hit them on the ground In Iraq.....they are back to calling out lone wolves here in the US.

Still our Tennessee and Arkansas people should be aware of it.....or any traveling thru this region.

That seems to be true, the strikes are starting to change the dynamic of that multiple way and multiple nation civil war. The underline problem is still there, a bunch of people under a splintered religion cannot find a way to get along. I do not see that changing no matter what our involvement.

But boots on the ground in Iraq (and possibly Syria) is going to introduce a whole new set of problems to contend with. I think you know what those are and why I am against the idea.

The problem has always been.....that they wouldn't stop at the Borders of the ME. Now they are attempting to hijack Islam. What they are preaching.....is taking hold.

It needs to stop or be put to a stop. Otherwise.....their Holy War will become just that, and it will be the end of that Religion.....on a Grand Scale.

No it won't. Radicalism is spreading and it is not confined to Muslims.

Or an unwillingness to indicate anything that might give away actual specificity or reliability of information being gathered. You've got to scrub intel pretty good before you make it unclass if you don't want to risk burning collection.

Radicalism isn't spreading like what ISIS is preaching. What most radicals are, is random. Not so with ISIS. Which they are using and Hijacking the religion of Islam. Rather than trying to come up with their own.

Radicalism is spreading around the world, even in the US. Islam is just one of the pretexts. There are others.

Still, none of it overshadows what ISIS is doing and has done. Again the problem is more and more are thinking that their way will be the Way of Islam. Which s why we are seeing it be embraced by others in other countries.

ISIS is the result of the US government trying to ouster the Syrian President who then in turn targeted all the moderates for killing so that the radicals would create a diversion of attention from him. So far, he is winning. ISIS won't.

ISIS basically has now taken out most of the MB backed Syrian Rebel/Terrorists. Also ruining BO peeps plan on training and equipping them.

These will give you incite as to what is going on with ISIS.
