Obama Apologizes to Castro

Damn it, ya beat me to it. Yeah, I'd say he knows as much about Cuban culture as any 15 year old girl who has seen Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights.

Like I said, I dated her for years, and went to school with her from elementary school. She's now a librarian specializing in Spanish.

I'm convinced! She speaks Spanish? Definitely Cuban. Say... do you know whether her parents stopped believing what they were told while they were in the country?

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY puts La Bebe in a corner.

Neither do I. But its hot and humid as balls there.

How the hell would you know?

WOW, a Caribbean island is HOT. And HUMID. Well, I'm convinced. Obama should make you the ambassador.

Kobie, she's a democrat politician running for POTUS.

US Conservative, the article I linked was from 2010. Pretty sure she wasn't running for POTUS then. In fact, she's not running for POTUS now, unless you have secret news of her declaration of candidacy that you'd like to share with the class?

As fun as THIS ass-kicking has been, it's time for me to head to bed.

Nothings made up, but what do I care if you believe me?

Isn't that why you post on forums and blogs? to get people to believe you? if not, why else would someone waste time typing stuff?

They were teenagers so...
And since theres no way to really convince you I know her why should I bother.

She's been a candidate for years, is this your first day?

Irrelevant to what I asked. Do you believe they stopped believing in what the Castros said while they were in the country? If you say yes, then it contradicts the implications that come with Fidel telling Cubans what they're told. If no, then it effectively means that freedom of any sort was not their reason for leaving. Either way, your argument that this gives Castro ammo has crumbled.

More appeasement of commie dictators. What could go wrong?

More mindless CON spin, it is 'Right(wing)' but it damn sure is NOT Key-rect...

CONs love using the term appeasement for everything to include being polite like their mothers should have taught them to be... :doh

So sad to be so warped.... :peace

Teenagers buy a lot, I dont know.

Lmao, that was what? 20-30-40 years ago? Leaving the country was still pretty much illegal. C'man, if Cubans will be told what to believe, they would have stayed in the country. That's the official doctrine down there. Cubans who leave the country are labeled as defectors. So if they're told what to think, why didn't this chick's parents stay in the country like Cubans are told to do? ;)

I'd guess 40 ish years ago, plenty still remembered what life was like before communism.

Lmao, people know what life is without communism because they watch a ****load of American movies on national television, today. They know what the internet, iPads, and pizza deliveries are. They know what credit cards and Christmas are like. Holy Christ, it's almost like you believe Cubans are living in the early 20th century or something. Your ignorance on this topic is really showing.

It's ODS, there's no cure for it.

I know the culture to an extent. Never been there.

I'm shocked.

You've never flown through the Sierra Maestra and landed your Cessna on top of Pico Real del Turquino to perform life saving techniques on someone desperately in need?

You better put that one on your to do list :2razz:

And this is why the Weekly Substandard is garbage.

Obama speaks uninterrupted for 15 minutes, then apologizes for speaking so long, and the headline is "Obama Apologizes To Castro."

Then he gives Castro his turn, and the subhead is "Cuban communist leader lectures Obama for 30 minutes."

Factually correct, but pretty misleading.

The AP version of the story is here (it's Newsday's site):

Lots to say in historic Obama-Castro phone call - Newsday

Yeah, I expected something outlandish and that is why I click on it to check it out. Then it was ho hum, give me a bottle of rum.

LMAO!! Yep that's they way they do it!! On top of it, someone posts it here to attack Obama. AMAZING!!!!

Wouldn't expect any more American citizens to get shot down by the Cuban government in international waters like Brothers to the Rescue now would you?

At times Mark Levin is too bombastic for me however this is an excellent interview with Marco Rubio and I think that Rubio makes an excellent argument about our relationship with Cuba. I wouldn't recommend that anyone comment unless they listen to the whole interview.

Obama Apologizes to Castro
Cuban communist leader lectures Obama for 30 minutes.

Barack Obama apologized to Cuban president Raul Castro during their phone conversation after the American commander in chief's opening remarks. Speaking to reporters at his final White House press briefing of 2014 Friday afternoon, Obama gave more details about his phone call with the communist leader of Cuba earlier this week before the announcement of a change in U.S. policy on the Caribbean island nation.

Obama began the phone call with Castro with what he described as 15 minutes of opening comments. It was the first conversation between the heads of state in both countries since 1961. "I apologized for taking such a long time," Obama said. Castro responded by reminding Obama that the American president was still young enough to beat Castro's brother, former Cuban president and revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, who once gave a 7-hour-long speech.

I won't be clicking on the Weekly Standard link because I have zero interest in what any Neo-cons 'think' about anything.
