John McCain CIA Torture Report Senate Speech

What? Why not? Obama has damaged the nation. And now his tool, Feinstein has done even more damage. Are you unable to hold both thoughts in your head at the same time?

So for you... Obama damages the nation by admitting that we're torturing people... but not by torturing those people in secret?

I believe that our treatment of POW's gives the enemy the excuse to treat our troops the same way. They can also use it as propaganda.

You do know what enemy we're talking about here, don't you? I'm pretty sure every American prisoner of war captured by the Taliban, Al Qeada, and their associates has been treated wonderfully, usually by having their heads handed to them.

Can't wait to see it.

You're welcome. The rebuttal is linked within the Fact Sheet.

he's one of my least favorite US politicians of recent memory. one of the few good things about Obama is that McCain didn't win and sign us up for an even greater expansion of the endless war. however, he's right in this case. have to give credit where credit is due.

Obama is not as much against torture as many think he is. The only difference is that he farms it out.

Obama damages the nation by his unconstitutional and unlawful conduct.
Obama stooge, Feinstein specifically, damaged the nation by releasing this Democrat written report. She is a traitor and she has damaged the CIA, probably for the next 50 years.

he's been disappointing where ending interventionism is concerned. better than McCain, but still disappointing. however, i'm not in this thread to rip McCain, just to agree with him on this one point.

The US has not faced an adversary since WW2 who treated captive Americans decently. There's nothing to be gained there.

I know of one who had his penis and testicles hacked off, shoved in his mouth and then bound and bleeding died on the floor.

But the bed wetters don't want high value detainees to be made uncomfortable.

Greetings, Pero. :2wave:

The noticeable growing change in sentiment about torture among Americans polled probably directly correlates with the savagery displayed by the terrorists themselves. I would guess that if a poll were taken today, after watching them behead people who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, it would be a large majority of Americans who would agree that torture is not always wrong. Just my opinion...

very possible. Violence begets violence begets violence. I sure have no sympathy for any terrorists. How can one have sympathy for someone who is willing to blow themselves up just to kill some innocents street bystanders or behead someone just because they took a wrong turn or something.

This is an entirely different kind of war than what we have seen in the past, at least for Americans.

Why would you be repulsed by Americans doing it in a "conventional war"? Wait... what is a conventional war? Because for the most part, we haven't waged "conventional war" since the invention of the gatling gun. There was nothing "conventional" about creating a bomb that could kill 200K people in minutes. There was nothing conventional about Agent Orange. So what defines conventional? Two armies, meeting in a battlefield and duking it out? The world hasn't had that since... what? The 19th century?

By conventional war, I mean two or more nations going to war with each other. Not dirt bag terrorists who would chop off the head of an innocent man, woman, or child just for the sake of an extreme interpretation of Islam.

I respect McCain's aversion to torture as he was a real victim of torture....however compared to what he faced in Vietnam....most of what the terrorists faced in those enhanced interrogations was little more then the annoyance offingernails on a chalkboard.

i don't agree.

I agree with you on this one.

Bush started the torture program.
Bush spied on Americans on American soil.
Bush had Americans executed by decree, without due process.
Bush snooped in our email.
Bush said that we had better shut up.

And what did Obama do? Did he end this? Of course not. He became Bush on steroids. If some of the Republicans would stop doing the silly crap against Obama, and condemn him for this, I would gladly join them in supporting impeaching Obama.

Usually, but not always. I'm not sure about the reasoning behind it, but we recently traded five terrorists from Gitmo for one American Private named Bergdahl. I'm sure he is happy to be home, and the terrorists are happy to be back in the ME, so everything worked out just fine.

I consider the steady, firm leadership of President Bush following 9/11 to be some of the most honorable leadership in American history. I'm Canadian, but I was damn proud of him and I thanked whatever god there is that he was President at the time. You are entitled to view that as sadism if you choose.

:agree: Nearly 3,000 people routinely went to work that day, never dreaming it would be their last day on earth due to terrorism. Apparently some people have forgotten that.

At no point did I ever consider thanking any sort of deity that George W. Bush was president.

Fine, I'll stick my face in the water tomorrow when I'm shaving.

Great. Can I assume you'll keep your opinions to yourself regarding cops and anything military or shoot, gun control? Afterall, if you haven't been shot, you should get no say.

No, because everyone here seems to know what torture is...but..they don't.

Reading stupid posts is torture, but not like water boarding or having someone shove food up your ass.
