Cooler carrying a stolen blood sample infected with the deadly Ebola virus, stolen!

Re: Cooler carrying a stolen blood sample infected with the deadly Ebola virus, stole

Well, let's hope that the "gang of robbers" wasn't ISIS volunteers. Really, what people can do with infected blood samples? Gangs will try to create another, better vaccine? I doubt it. But creating biological weapon, sounds more believable.

I suppose if you don't understand how Ebola works and what it would take to weaponize it- it could be a bit believable.

Love to hear how the weapon would work... infect a bunch of escorts right before the two major parties' 2016 conventions?

That might be more of a blessing than weapon... :2wave:

Biological warfare (BW)—also known as germ warfare—is the use of biological toxins or infectious agents such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi with the intent to kill or incapacitate humans, animals or plants as an act of war

Get Ebola samples, put it into f.e. water supply system... profit.
Really, it will be very dangerous. There are many people which often says "Hmm, i think, i'm ill. I need to stay at for a while", or people which don't have insurance? They will spread the disaster in a few days!

Napalm. Fix it quick.

Yes lets murder people that's a reasonable response.

You can't pour a tiny vial of blood into a water supply the size of a lake and expect to infect even one person, let alone many.

This is what happens when you take ignorance, mix it wiyktg fear, and ignite with Wingnut media.

Boom! Stupidity flying everywhere!

Stolen Ebola blood ‘lost for good’

The Ebola virus is very fragile. It can only live (thrive) outside of a host for a few minutes. That sample is likely dead already, if whoever has it didn't take exceptionally good care of it. When people are contagious, they are literally leaking blood out of their skin... what blood they have left after the bloody diarrhea and bloody vomiting. Which means, they aren't cooking your burgers, or on your airplane, or being anywhere in public accept an emergency room or an ambulance.

You can't pour a tiny vial of blood into a water supply the size of a lake and expect to infect even one person, let alone many.

...or even one.

If an Ebola patient was vomiting into a river 10 feet upstream from you, and you decide you're thirsty and take a drink, you probably wouldn't get it. Out of a municipal tap? No chance at all. Ebola can be killed by common hand soap; water supplies have much harsher chemical treatments.

Ebola doesn't spread by the water supply. You need a bit more knowledge and a lot less World Nutt Dully articles.

IF ebola spread the way you think West Africa would have been depopulated by now.

You know it takes expertise to just handle the virus, let alone do something nefarious with it.

I'm no expert, but I do know something about this virus since I work in the health care profession.

You can't infect people en mass with the Ebola virus this way with such a small sample. The virus would be too diluted to have the desired contaminate effect. About the only thing someone could do with this sample is either try to infect others by exposing them directly to the blood or try to replicate the virus to make more samples. If the culprits wish to do any such harm, however, they'd need to act fast. Even the stolen blood sample will destabilize within 2-3 weeks without a living host.
