President Obama to announce executive action on immigration Thursday

Will be interesting to see what actually is announced and thus have something concrete to actually talk about.

If it's simply TEMPORARY allowance to remain in this country, no matter how wide spread, as this article suggests then I don't think Impeachment or a shutdown is reasonable, however I do think such will absolutely poison the well from the very onset between this President and the next congresses on immigration and likely many other issues as well.

But will some one please answer this question. If what he announces is temp allowance to remain in this country, then why is the right so fired up on something St. Reagan and Bush Sr. have done before him?

Please explain the difference?

You will have to be more specific. We have many laws.

He don't have any specifics. He is just spouting B.S talking points. Nobody gave a intelligent explanation of what laws he is breaking as of yet.

All you hear is "He is breaking the law" and "He is shredding the constitution" with no details as to why.

Sure, already done so in another thread.

As it relates to executive action on the part of Reagan as it relates to illegal immigrants in this country, again it's not comparable to Barack Obama in this instance. I'll refer, as I have often, to Justice Jacksons decision in Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. v. Sawyer that serves as the basis for the legality of executive action in this country...

The presidents power as it relates to executive actions is at it's most when said action is pursuant with the express or implied will of the Congress. This applies in situations relating to Reagan's executive action in 1987. The congress had just passed a law the year before whose clear intent and purpose was to largely grant amnesty to the majority of illegal immigrants in the country in order to humanely allow them to remain within our country. Unfortunately, as happens in comprehensive large laws, there were unforseen issues that arose...such as situations where one member of a family fell under the parameters of amnesty while others didn't. The Presidents executive action in that particular case was in line with the expressed and implied will of congress as it related to a law passed under that very congress, and signed by that very president, in regards to altering the enforcement of that law.

The presidents power as it relates to executive actions is at it's lowest when said action is imcompatible with the express or implied will of the Congress. In this case, Congress has passed no law recently related to immigration and is...at best...split on permanent or temporarily allowing illegal aliens to stay within the country. The incoming congress less than two months away is clearly against such things. NOTHING past by this congress suggests in any way, shape, or form that it's implied or expressed will is to allow ANY illegal alien to remain here temporarily. Indeed, laws specifically aimed at doing such...like the DREAM Act...have failed to pass this congress.

Reagan was acting based off of a piece of legislation, passed by congress and signed by him, that was less than a year old in which said [executive] action was in line with the implied or expressed will of congress as it related to the purpose of said legislation.

Obama would be acting based off no such legislation signed by him or passed by this congress and would be acting in a way that is incompatible with the expressed and implied will of the congress.

In that thread in a paragraph not as related to executive actions (and thus I didn't include it) I also noted that Reagans actions regarding immigration is one of the most continually pointed to critiques and criticisms of his tenure in office from many republicans.

As I see it, the Senate passed an immigration reform bill, but Boehner has stated that he will never bring the bill to a vote in the House. He said, instead, that the house would craft their own bill. I can't seem to find that bill. And this is over a year later. If Boehner won't act, I have no problem with the President using his authority to get immigration reform done.

What Boehner has done is legal, and quite normal. Demokrats do it all the time. Ever hear of Keystone???

Our government wasn't designed to get things done easily... that is why undoing the mess created by Demokrats will take decades, perhaps less when we implode due to their idiocies.

Obama is shredding the Constitution.

And what do we get from the Left? Ignoring the facts, ignornant of the facts, or trying to bend them... as usual.
They're proving once again they are the party of Gruber/Obama. Suckers who are ready to thoughtlessly spread any pile of dung for their masters.

The only work that needs to be done on immigration reform right now is in enforcing existing law.

Radical Lefties like NIMBY don't want the laws enforced. They want America destroyed, just like what their idol Obama wants.

There are republicans serving in the house and senate who weren't even alive when Reagan was POTUS. This is a political tactic Obama is using to derail an incoming full republican congress. He'll continue to distract and distract and distract hoping to prevent them from getting something positive done. He knows one of the first things they might do is neuter Obamacare. This should keep them busy he figures and it may actually bring some new voters to the dem side.

Repubs wouldn't dare put the Dream Act up for a vote in the impotent House.
They know it would pass.

DEMs better get better at the messaging game and damned quick.
It's all the GOP has on us right now .

I thought you were a moderate, it says so right under your name?
