$1 billion divorce settlement 'disappointing'

May vary slightly from state to state, but even in community property states she does not automatically own half the company if he owned it solely prior to their marriage (or his shares, if owned by many). She may be entitled to 1/2 the increase in value* from the day they were married to the day they split/divorced, but that does not necessarily equate to ownership stakes.

*- Never seems to be liable for 1/2 of any decrease in value, though. Strange how that works.
