Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was called “an evil, abnormal beast” in an anonymous letter FBI agents sent the civil rights leader in 1964 in an effort to get him to commit suicide, a newly published, unredacted version of the note, shows.
The disturbing missive, which details intimate knowledge of King’s extramarital affairs, was sent in the days before he was to receive the Nobel Peace Prize and is written under the guise of a civil rights supporter angry with the movement’s leader.

A deadline of 34 days is given before King is outed as a womanizer, the missive, filled with grammatical errors, threatens.

Long threatened by the rise of the powerful black minister, the efforts of former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover to discredit King have since been revealed and shined a disturbing light on government overreach and misconduct during the Jim Crow era, Gage says of her research into a biography of the once-vaunted law enforcement head.
Though previously released in a heavily edited form, Gage found the original copy, free of redactions, among documents at the National Archives in College Park, Md.

More evidence of the FBI's incredibly abhorrent position in trying to silence King and the civil rights movement.

LOL You gotta love liberals who set up massive, corrupt, unaccountable bureaucracies then complain that they are massive, corrupt and unaccountable.

Can't blame this one on the Republicans.

Unless the corruption helps the Liberal agenda, then it's ok.

The CIA and the FBI are hotbeds of Republican activism.

:doh Of course not. Any repressive measure taken by a government agency is all the Democrats fault. Blanket terms are blanket terms, and "big government" is one of them, and its absolutely idiotic. Was the Patriot Act "big government" and the liberals fault? Of course it was, only the liberals fault, because its "big government", and just forget about the man who proposed it and all the members of the GOP who voted for it. It was "big government" thefore all the "Democrats fault".

Blanket terms such as "big government" are used for one thing and one thing only, hackery, and too dumb down the population, to only see things in black and white. Big government vs. small government. They are terms that have little to no meaning because they are incredibly subjective. Whats "big government"? Whats "small government"? "Big government" to one person may be incredibly different to another. "Small government" to one person may be incredibly different to another.

To blame this on "welp its all the Dems fault" because it was BB spying and trying to destroy a justice movement, well lets just say it, is ****ing dumb.

"New Deal" Messiah FDR is actually almost entirely to blame for this one. He basically ran Hoover's FBI like his on private Gestapo during WW2. He granted them powers to conduct investigations on both "subversive" domestic groups and political rivals which previously would have been illegal, and he grew the force from a mere 353 agents to more than 4000, with almost 8000 support staff, by the end of his time in office.

This lunacy simply happened to carry over to the post-war years as well.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...we know that if there was any way to pin this on Republicans, you'd be all over it.

No I wouldnt. I'm blaming this on one department agency. The FBI and an evil man, Hoover. You to make this about "typical big government Democrats" is so simple. But hey I get it, gotta make everything simple.

Did I do it here? Why didnt I do it here?

We get it. You have to make everything very simple. If its "big government" in your eyes, thats bad, and therefore all Democrats fault! We get it, it has to be black and white, big vs small gov. Nothing in between, nothing outside these narrow perceptions.

But you can because you are a simple hack with black and white perceptions.

Re: ‘Evil, abnormal beast’: FBI’s ‘suicide note’ to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reveal

Can't blame this one on the Republicans.

So, let's blame it on the Democrats and just move on.

Otherwise, we might have to engage in a bit of introspection and perhaps learn from past mistakes. We can't have that.

Did I blame it on Democrats? Noooooo, I didn't. But I know you have an inability to address someone's actual comments, but would rather address their imagined comments.

You're name calling ability is still on par. No let down, there. It's funny as hell to see Liberals call someone a hack. :lamo

Nope, you said it can't be blamed on the Republicans. So, let's blame it on the Democrats. Someone has to be blamed, after all. Who else is there?
