Sheriffs Plan Massive Gathering in Washington to Oppose Executive Amnesty

Read your post and do a little thinking.

You'll figure it out.

The USA doesn't have a national sheriff, it has a president, and right now that president's name is Barack Obama.

Anyone who doesn't like that should try to change it. :lamo

If you don't like what the Democratic president of the USA is doing, then try putting a Republican there in 2016.

I predict that the next president of the USA will be a Democrat.

Let's see you prove me wrong.:lamo

I don't have time to waste on you, if you don't like what's going on in the USA, let's see you change it.

I predict that you will fail miserably. :lamo

Anyone can talk, but it takes a real human being to actually do anything.

2014 will be over with and in the history books in less than 2 months.

Time marches on.

"No one can stop time and/or change."

Bush did it and I don't see any reason why Obama can't do it.

The 1st Amendment guarantees every American free speech but it doesn't say that anyone has to listen.

So many posts and yet you fail to address my question and statement to you. Afraid to answer?

I'm hardly far right. And yet it shows me that Gonzales, who just illegally entered the US, doesn't care about the law. Now Mr. Lopez, he entered the US legally and is staying in the US legally, know what that tells me about him? Tells me that Mr. Lopez respects the law.

Who are you going to trust more? Someone that shows that they respect the law? Or someone that scoffs at it?

Lets try and answer my post without the hyperbolic rants k?

When the Sheriffs March on Washington is over with a lot more will have been said than got done.

IOW: The Sheriffs will accomplish nothing. They're wasting their time.

In order to get anything done you must first talk about it. In order to get something talked about you sometimes have to show up in person and in force. Even if no bill or act is passed due to this rally it will still have an effect, whether you want to admit it or not.

I can tell you one effect that it is having right now, even before the rally actually happens....we're talking about it, that means just the idea of the rally has had an effect already.

Believe whatever you want to believe, I don't believe that these Sheriffs will get the GOP to offer any meaningful immigration legislation.

Last I heard they were going there due to Obama's policies...not the GOP's.

People (statists) forget that the federal govt is an outgrowth of local and state govt, not the other way around.

The United States was set up that way so that the states could limit the power of the Federal Government, and while what you just said is absolutely true, the Federal Government has grown into a monster that I simply don't believe the States are powerful enough to stop...

I sincerely hope for the sake of America's future, that I'm wrong about that.

I hope you are wrong too. This is what the 2nd is about.

Sheriffs are public safety managers, not typically simply beat cops like on Gunsmoke, so a big part of their job is to lobby for laws and policies to help them do their job. If the laws, law makers, other law enforcement agencies or the court system is acting to harm public safety then pointing that out is very much part of their job.

Gunsmoke had a US Marshall.

None of these sheriffs were elected or appointed as lobbyists. Their job is to enforce the law as it exists.

I'll predict again that they will accomplish nothing in Washington. What leverage do they have? What real pressure can they bring to bear on anyone?
If they could force the GOP to pass fair legislation that deals with the USA's immigration problems that would be great.

Who thinks that will happen anytime soon?
