Because they artificially drive up labor costs making it harder for blacks to compete. Thomas Sowell has written at length about this.

Its also racist and ridiculous. Nobody is buying it. These are the actions of a desperate party and they should NOT be cut any slack.

How are blacks different from other under qualified/experienced laborers?

They tend to be poorer and have less skills, there is friction there because Hispanics are surpassing them in many areas as well. Hispanics are also stifled by unions and minimum wage, and in many cases have gone to the "black market" by working illegally under the table.

That's true of all minorities. Society will seemingly always have poorer and less skilled workers. If we counted everything that affected poor people as racist, the term becomes meaningless.

Unions expanded as a way to keep blacks from undercutting them with lower wages, and even today blacks are disproportionately (doesn't the left love this word?) hit hardest.

History aside, we cannot refer to something as racist simply because it affects the poorest of society.

It affects ONE group more than most, and thats blacks. This is one reason why blacks (who tend to vote liberal for the handouts) oppose illegal immigration (which takes their jobs).

As a matter of economics, not race. There will always be 'the poorest group'. Race, in this economic context, is an arbitrary and artificial delineation.

It does not change the fact that unions, amongst other issues were intended to, and still today target blacks. The democrat party has some nasty skeletons in its closet.

I presume you mean disproportionately. Fine. That doesn't make it racist. Many things affect the poorest in society, that does not make them racist.
