Gaston magistrate resigns over same-sex marriage

GASTONIA – A Gaston County magistrate is the latest to resign from his job rather than having to perform same-sex marriages. The Gaston Gazette reports Bill Stevenson resigned his job on Oct. 16, one day before he was to return to work as part of his regular seven-day shift.Stevenson referenced on Monday a biblical passage from Romans 13, which says Christians should respect the authority of government. But, he added, his faith would not allow him to do his job.

Media reports say at least six magistrates have left their jobs since a federal judge declared North Carolina’s ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional.
The Administrative Office of the Courts has said any magistrates who refuse to heed the recent federal court ruling are violating their oaths and could face dismissal.

Good for them!!!
they exercised their right to quit instead of being dismissed for inability to do thier job and serve thier people.

Weird some people said there would be FORCE, there wasnt. Rights and freedom working together.

Also of these 6 magistrates Id GUESS they are huge bigoted hypocrites! lol

Now I admit I could be wrong but whats the odds of none of them every performing:

legal marriages that they new the people had no plans to do a religious one also
legal marriages that they knew the people already had or did have plans to have a religious marriage of another faith
legal marriages that they knew the people already had or did have plans to have were intereligious marriages
legal marriages that were the 2nd, 3rd or with wedding?
etc etc etc

if they preformed any of those or didnt think about resigning because of those legal marriages then they are huge hypocritical bigots that I laugh at

if they didn't preform those weddings just on luck then they are not but id say they are stupid for not thinking that far ahead. They have a job to do and it was dumb to think they wouldn't have to treat others equally.

oh wait THOOOOOOSE things are different those sinners dont effect thier religious convictions but them fags sure due LMAO what a complete joke

just like quitting because youll have to treat certain races or sexes or other religions equal, its sad

Im glad they used thier freedom and rights though and step down since they were unfit.

I think that is honorable. If you cant do your job because of religious beliefs, do the right thing and quit.

I agree the step down is honorable and the right thing
doesnt change the fact they are "probably" huge hypocrites though
