101st Airborne Won’t Get Full Protective Hazmat Suits for Ebola Mission in West Afric

Re: 101st Airborne Won’t Get Full Protective Hazmat Suits for Ebola Mission in West A

If you had ever taken a basic Micro 101 you would know how silly you sound.

Not as silly as you sounded calling the University of Minnesota and a couple of Chicago Disease Specialists Right wing noise. Oh and lets not forget your Rush Limbaugh talking memos.

Now that was some funny ****.

Re: 101st Airborne Won’t Get Full Protective Hazmat Suits for Ebola Mission in West A

MMC, your bollocks needs to stop.

What does that have to do with the ****ing tests that showed it was transmittable by Air?

You were shown 2 tests cited with primates.....oh and that's another thing that's why I put up the 2 from Chicago. Or did you miss that.....when playing to your crew?

Absolutely no irrefutable evidence has been given to show that Ebola is transmittable by air.

None.

You are twisting and using incorrect information to show that its been proven.

Absolutely no agency, university, hospital or government has ever said that ebola is an airborne virus and that's unlikely to change anytime soon.

Ebola is not an airborne virus.

End of.

I don't know what stake you have in proclaiming it is... but your posts are patently false and irresponsible.

From post 213.....how is the scientists information false?

Transmission of Ebola virus from pigs to non-human primates.....

In 2009, Reston-EBOV was the first EBOV detected in swine with indicated transmission to humans. In-contact transmission of Zaire-EBOV (ZEBOV) between pigs was demonstrated experimentally. Here we show ZEBOV transmission from pigs to cynomolgus macaques without direct contact. Interestingly, transmission between macaques in similar housing conditions was never observed. Piglets inoculated oro-nasally with ZEBOV were transferred to the room housing macaques in an open inaccessible cage system. All macaques became infected. Infectious virus was detected in oro-nasal swabs of piglets, and in blood, swabs, and tissues of macaques. This is the first report of experimental interspecies virus transmission, with the macaques also used as a human surrogate. Our finding may influence prevention and control measures during EBOV outbreaks.....snip~

That was the second test......the First was Primate to primate. So just what do you call irrefutable evidence.

Review of Human-to-Human Transmission of Ebola Virus | Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever | CDC

Transmission Studies

Airborne transmission of Ebola virus has been hypothesized but not demonstrated in humans. While Ebola virus can be spread through airborne particles under experimental conditions in animals, this type of spread has not been documented during human EVD outbreaks in settings such as hospitals or households.1 In the laboratory setting, non-human primates with their heads placed in closed hoods have been exposed to and infected by nebulized aerosols of Ebola virus.28,29 In a different experiment, control monkeys were placed in cages 3 meters away from the cages of monkeys that were intramuscularly inoculated with Ebola virus.30 Control and inoculated monkeys both developed Ebola virus infection. The authors concluded that “fomite and contact droplet” transmission to the control monkeys was unlikely, and that airborne transmission was most likely,30 but they did not discuss the potential behaviors of caged non-human primates (e.g., spitting and throwing feces) that might have led to body fluid exposures.31 Similarly, an outbreak of Reston virus (Reston ebolavirus species, which does not cause EVD in humans) infection occurred in a quarantine facility housing non-human primates in separate cages and the transmission route could not be confirmed for all infected primates. Multiple animal handlers developed antibody responses to Reston virus suggesting asymptomatic infection was occurring in humans with direct animal contact and implicating animal handling practices in transmission between primates.32 In a different study, piglets that were oronasally inoculated with Ebola virus were able to transmit infection to caged non-human primates that were placed 20 cm from the piglets.33 The piglet and primate cubicle design did not permit the investigators to distinguish among aerosol, small or large droplet, or fomite transmission routes, and it was noted that pigs are capable of generating infectious short range aerosol droplets more efficiently than other species. A more recent experiment that was specifically designed to further evaluate the possibility of naturally-occurring airborne transmission of Ebola virus among non-human primates showed no transmission of Ebola virus from infected to control primates placed 0.3 meters apart in separate open-barred cages and ambient air conditions, but with a plexiglass divider that prevented direct contact between the animals.34

There is no specific and irrefutable evidence to prove ebola is an airborne virus.

Ebola is not an airborne virus.

Re: 101st Airborne Won’t Get Full Protective Hazmat Suits for Ebola Mission in West A

According to the Center for Aerobiological Sciences, U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick, Maryland:

Got anything to say about these guys Mak. Post 243 was their Analysis. Any reason you skipped over them?
Didn't fit his narrative.

Re: 101st Airborne Won’t Get Full Protective Hazmat Suits for Ebola Mission in West A

Whether or not some strains or variants of Ebola are airborne .. ..

Well, at the moment, I'm concerned about the one that Duncan had, and if it is airborne, then he should have infected about 20 people.

So far only 2 have tested positive, two healthcare workers from the hospital where he was undiagnosed on Thursday, September 25th, and left open in the ER on Sunday, September 28th, prior to testing positive.

It's been 21 days since the four people staying in the small apartment with Duncan last had direct contact with them .. and none of them have tested positive.

That gives me hope that the current strain of Ebola is not airborne.

Let's hope it doesn't mutate to airborne very quickly.

There's nothing to say that is an appropriate reponse to his misreading of the analysis. It doesn't say what he seems to think it does.

This was from Post 240.

Pathology of Experimental Aerosol Zaire Ebolavirus Infection in Rhesus Macaques......

1US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), Fort Detrick, MD, USA
2Integrated Research Facility Frederick, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health, Fort Detrick, Frederick, MD, USA

How the virus is spread among humans during outbreaks is largely unknown; however, close contact and iatrogenic spread have been documented.6,8,20,66,82 In NHP, there is 1 report of transmission among research animals by way of infectious droplets and aerosolized particles.51 Aerosol exposure as a means of human infection has never been documented. EBOV, along with several other highly pathogenic agents, has the potential to be used in biowarfare as aerosolized weapons and are therefore classified as biological select agents and toxins (BSATs).1,11,28,32,45,69 These factors, coupled with a lack of licensed human vaccine or approved medical countermeasures, amplify the risks of EBOV to human health.

In summary, the pathogenesis we propose for aerosol EBOV infection in rhesus, based on the results of the current study, is as follows:

We predict this sequence of events would be the same in human aerosol infection.....snip~

Then there is the latest test results from the Canadians. Which is up in this thread. Post 242 then read 243 and 245. They aren't lying about anything JBM.

Re: 101st Airborne Won’t Get Full Protective Hazmat Suits for Ebola Mission in West A

Oh I went with the basics. Those who know how to put up buildings, today they are called Army Engineers. We wouldn't want you to be confused on that point. Then those that are medical and know how to deal with medical equipment and handle medical procedures, That would be doctors and nurses to you, and then for the HQ I went with Clerks and Staff Officers. Which you should.....at the very least know what those are.

Also I wasnt trying to scare you.....you were the one that was scared about some fearmongering. Which is why you began shouting it out.

As for the reading ability.....you need to get in some more practice time. As you already admitted in front of all. Basic English words confuse you. Just sayin!

So you went with a bunch of units instead of one, and without a clear understanding of what criterion those who chose them to go(who have access to much more info than you) used, but by god you think you know better. What is that old saying...those that can, do. Those that can't, bitch.

And you clearly where trying to scare people. You just failed at it. Much like you are failing at diverting from the fact the premise of this whole thread is a lie.

Oops.....your crystal ball cracks once again as you change to another tangent. So yeah I had said what should be sent. Like I told you was up in the thread. Which you kept missing due to all that reading ability you said you had. Oh and I would know way more than you about my brothers and their Missions.

But maybe if you read about them sometime.....you just might actually pull off that miracle, and learn something.

Again I wasn't trying to scare people.....so need to bring your fear back out into the open just to show you are scared of the big bad world. If it gets to be to much for you.....you can always go back inside and lock your door and turn on all the lights. Turn the TV on loud.....so you can tune out everything else. It will be aww'ight!

Re: 101st Airborne Won’t Get Full Protective Hazmat Suits for Ebola Mission in West A

With 4000 troops deployed, one of them contracting the disease would be .025%. Are our military and administration 99.975% sure that there is no way that they can contract the virus? And if one of them does contract it, will the administration take personal responsibility? Somehow I don't think so.

Re: 101st Airborne Won’t Get Full Protective Hazmat Suits for Ebola Mission in West A

1. Where does this number come from?

2. Does it apply to standard populations, or health care professionals engaged in the treatment of Ebola patients?

No one has said they cannot contract it. Precautions are being taken to minimize the risk, including full hazmat suits for those who will be in contact with those who have Ebola, or in contact with bio samples from those with Ebola, or in contact with anything that might be contaminated(yes, the source of the thread is a lie, it took a partial quote out of context, real facts are documented in this thread). In addition they will get their temp taken twice a day and logged watching for fever, plus training on what to watch for and what symptoms to report no matter how mild. Plus they have a plan for any one of the soldiers who do contract it, starting with immedietly airlifting them to a US hospital. I have documented all this in this very thread.

Re: 101st Airborne Won’t Get Full Protective Hazmat Suits for Ebola Mission in West A

Primarily as I understand it building ETUs(Ebola Treatment Units), plus some command and control and logistics type stuff. I linked to a transcript of General Rodriguez doing a briefing on the topic(where the out of context quote from the OP source came from) and he talks a bit about that.
What American vital national interest do we have that would cause The One on the golf course to send American military troops to Ebola country?

Why didn't you answer the question I asked?
No. I have not noticed all of the GOP politicians running on the fear of Ebola. I have noticed an impotent Establishment Republican party crossing their fingers and hoping that Ebama is so bad that people will vote for hope and change, only this time for Republicans. They are fools.

101st HQ deploying to Liberia in response to Ebola epidemic | Article | The United States Army

Soldiers from the 101st Sustainment Brigade are part of the deploying number, according to a division spokesman. In addition, he said elements of the 86th Combat Support Hospital are also preparing to deploy from Fort Campbell.

Also in late October, the Army will deploy another 700 Soldiers from various engineering units throughout the U.S. to supervise the construction of Ebola treatment units, conduct site surveys and provide engineering expertise.

Bolded from link.

Im not sure what link Redress posted so if this is the same then sorry. But there are going engineers deployed to build the buildings as well as medical staff. The 101st is only deploying their headquarters. So it seems they already ticked all the boxes you want covered.

Your post has nothing to do with anything I said, nor is it relevant to the lie in the OP, which takes a quote out of context and spins it into something completely untrue.

Thanks for that link. No.....it wasn't and you are the first to show how that force will be divided up.

But then again.....I still see no need to send in the 101st. Like others have mention.....they are a Elite Combat Unit.
