Current U-6 Unemployment Rate is 11.3%

They're not growing they're expanding... A balloon can stretch right? inflate it with air it expands - get it?

U-6 numbers got smaller. I don't know how simpler I can make this for you.

You're using statistics again which are about as useless as wheels on a boat.

I don't think you get it.

The U-6...that dirty little secret that Obama, the Democrats and their apologists don't want you to think about.

What a crock - it's growing exponentially- especially kids coming to working age that cant find a job, and even those who take any job they can for cash under the table..

This is the worst US economic disaster I have experienced or ever read about...

But yeah keep on defending these clowns in government that think they know whats best for everyone.

Actually, it's down to 11.3, from the peak of 17.8 the last few months of 2008.

Why should anyone care about it? I don't care that Joe Nobody doesn't like mopping floors. Why should I lump him in with unemployed people just because he doesn't like his job? And its certainly not the responsibility of the President to set you up with a job you like.

When Obama and his Democrat buddies set things up so that all Joe Nobody can find to do is mopping floors, then yes...they are responsible.

If the only job Joe Nobody can manage to get hired into since the Great Recession is mopping floors then it is safe to assume that he is either too lazy to look for a different job or that is all he is qualified to do. Thats another reason why so-called "underemployment" is irrelevant. Joe Nobody might think he should be in a higher paying position but the people who actually do the employing obviously do not think him qualified.

THAT'S what the Congressional Democrats...and Obama...have done for him.

I agree partially with your assessment that government has a hand in this situation, I disagree with your opinion that it is solely the Democrats. This ABC news article discusses Republican roles in job outsourcing.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Senate has rejected further consideration of a bill Democrats say would have eliminated existing tax breaks for employers who ship their jobs overseas. While Republicans sought to squash it as political theater, Democrats admit quarreling over the “Bring Jobs Home Act” was openly influenced by the 2012 presidential campaign.

“It’s fairly easy to see why Republicans are blocking our bill to stop outsourcing,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said at a press conference before the vote. “They’re obviously defending their presidential nominee, who of course made a fortune by shipping jobs overseas.”

Well, they're not lumped as unemployed, but the U-6 does have its uses.
The U-3 tells us what percent of those who are doing something about work are not working
This shows the gap between availability and use of labor.

The U-4 tells us what percent of those doing something about work or recently looked but felt they wouldn't get hired are not working.
This shows us how many more would be available if their perception of the labor market changed a little.

The U-5 tells us what percent of those doing something about work or recently looked but not looking now are not working
This shows us how many more would be available if they decide their personal situation allows it.

The U-6 tells us what percent of those doing something about work or recently looked but not looking now are not working or aren't working as many hours as they'd like.
This shows us the degree of underutilization. The 11.3% tells us that of all those working or could theoretically be hired soon are not working to full possibility. If someone could be working 35+ hours/week, but isn't, then that shows a weakness in the labor market.

Or...nobody is hiring for the higher paying job he is qualified for.

THAT'S what the Congressional Democrats...and Obama...have done for him.

The heroes of the right, Beck, Levin, Limbauh ALL say there are TONS of jobs in North Dakota with fast food workers getting almost $18 an hour and many jobs that are making 6 figures. Are they ALL lying? Please tell us.

shrug...

I don't listen to or watch them. I don't know. But I've heard the economy is pretty good up there. But I have to ask you...so what? I've heard the economy is pretty good in Texas, too.

Wait...are you saying that failed bill would have resulted in more jobs? That's preposterous.

Oh...wait...it MIGHT have kept 150 jobs. Whooopeee!!

btw, dude. That article is nothing more than a left-wing media hit piece aimed at Romney. I dismiss the article.

The Democrats have resurrected that bill word for word and are trying to push it again. It was pretty well picked apart and show to be completely flawed in 2012, which is why it failed - and why it will fail again. Political theater at its finest. And it was a nice way to attack candidate Romney at the time.

You listen to those guys regularly?

I listen to all sides of radio and politics. I don't think anyone anywhere can make an informed decision without seeing what those on different sides are thinking. No matter how outlandish.

However, the right generally is in sync when it comes to jobs in North Dakota listening and reading the news from that side.

I can't listen to anyone that partisan. Ever. On either side. Closest I come to that masochistic act is watching Al Sharpton for ****s and giggles.

Al is a riot only from the perspective of "How much dumber can he be?". Which usually gets answered fairly quickly.

But yes, listening and reading right-wing raido and sites, they generally agree that North Dakota is a boom for jobs if people move there. The'yre unemployment is the lowest in the country at 2.8 % so something is ringing true no matter how much I don't like those guys on the right.

If I can control either the numerator or the denominator, I can make the unemployment rate anything I want.

Agreed about Rev. Al.

One thing is for sure, the absolute fact is that economies like ND are doing well despite the policies of the current administration because of private capital, business, and land.

Obama wants to say that his policies are on the ballot this Nov. while demos running run from them, won't invite him to their states, and in the case of KY, outright lie to the voters about their true agendas.

Obama and progressives have done more to ensure that they lose for a generation than anything I can think other than repubs cowaring and not having a coherent message of course.

This election should be a no brainer, but it will be unnecessarily close.

My point being in a previous post a poster said nobody can find ANY jobs. Move to ND then and there are jobs. I agree Obama's policies have hurt the U.S. which is why I didn't vote for him. However, with that said, the Republicans have NOT proven themselves to be any better, just a different side of the same coin. They want to use big government to be morality police.

Well, I dont know about any, but many are severely under employed, that's troubling. But I agree on both, going to where the job is, and repubs not being strong and resolute in their principles.

The different method of measurement that also shows unemployment rates dropping? Yes, how terrible for democrats.

Yeah but, making six figures in North Dakota requires you to live in North Dakota.
